
To characterize the Robert Glasper Experiment’s new album, Black Radio, as eclectic would be a gross understatement. The record opens with an undulating 7-chord vamp from Glasper’s piano, and his voice is quickly joined by the rest of the band: Chris “Daddy” Dave’s needlepoint drums, the anchor of Derrick Hodge’s bass guitar, and a ghostly wail of saxophonist Casey Benjamin’s vocoder.
