Blog: Music Under Fire

The Swedish Sisters that compose the indie/Americana duo First Aid Kit hit Union Transfer Saturday night March 31st, and they absolutely blew me away.  Klara and Johanna Soderberg shared a bill with English trio Peggy Sue, and it was a perfect match.  Peggy Sue’s riffy, electric blues-rock was a well-chosen precursor to First Aid Kit’s strummy folk tunes laden with exquisite harmony.  Their style is somewhat akin to Horse Feathers, Joanna Newsom and Bright Eyes.  Hints of Joni Mitchell peak through as well, especially in some of the songs from their latest record,  The Lion’s Roar , released in January [...]
