The Kleenerz is the Los Angeles-based duo of producer Kenny Segal and poet/vocalist Self Jupiter. Together, they have crafted a dark, sometimes disturbing, and many times humorous collection of left-field boom-bap. Lead single "Filthy" showcases those elements of their approach perfectly, as guest singer Fanny Franklin croons the hook like she just woke up from a 60-year nap. In other words, the throwback vibe here is evident, though primarily "Filthy" walks the line between outsider art and tongue-in-cheek rap music.
