Alpine are definitely one of the more unique sounding Australian indie bands that have popped up in the last few years. Their latest single "Gasoline" appears to have been inspired by 90s r&b pop. Although this is a bit of a trend at the moment, it definitely doesn't come across as a band-wagon jump, as the synth part has been kept really simple and there doesn't appear to be any hint of programmed drums and/or percussion which could have easily been integrated to make the sound more slick and pure.
