Inspiral Carpets were not the band I wanted them to be. Now this is nobody's problem but my own, and I take full responsibility for it, but dammit they could have been. Indeed, for one short track they were. Theme From Cow comes from their debut EP, from 1988. It's full-on psychedelic revivalism. Clint Boon hadn't yet become lead vocalist, but steals the show with a ridiculous Farfisa line, and bassist David Swift has a satisfyingly angular post-punk tone.
