Once you start listening to Work Drugs ' infectious brand of lo-fi beach pop, it's incredibly difficult to stop. The Philadelphia band's sophomore LP Absolute Bearing is a great collection of catchy, addictive tunes, among which is "The Art of Progress". Apparently written in 1994, the song is "a response to U.S. President Bill Clinton and Russian President Boris Yeltsin signing the Kremlin accords, which stopped the preprogrammed aiming of nuclear missiles toward each country's targets, and also provided for the dismantling of the nuclear arsenal in Ukraine".
