No Doubt 's comeback entry "Settle Down" is an interesting one. Despite having all the familiar elements typical of one of the last great singles pop bands-the cool hodge-podge of different musical styles; a lyric peppered with all kinds of awkward, "inside joke-y" hip-speak; and a winning chorus led by Gwen Stefani's much-missed distinctive vox that slyly presents the act as being in the same headspace of past mega-hits, some of which are well over a decade-plus old ( !!!! )-the song still feels like it's lacking something to really set it off in being the big [...]
