
Mike Kinsella, who goes by the moniker Owen and plays slow, confessional songs mostly on his acoustic guitar, played at a packed Union Transfer Friday night in support of fellow Illinois musicians, Braid. Mike Kinsella comes from a musical family; Mike, along with his brothers Tim and Nate, played in numerous Chicago-based bands (Joan of Arc and Cap‘n Jazz), and Kinsella fronted the (for better or worse for the future of indie music) seminal emo band American Football before he formed Owen independently, in the early 2000s.
