Bonnaroo is just dying to be a trending topic today, or maybe they're scared their website is going to explode (again) when they unveil their lineup. They've been revealing "#BonnarooClues" the past week or so via Twitter as to who some of the acts on the bill shall be, ranging from Paul McCartney and Paul Simon to D.A.N.C.E.-enthused Justice . If they actually show up on the bill then I'll feel more investigative than Steve Burns himself . So while the Roo execs keep adding artists, [...]

Busy boys, Diplo and Switch have no time to rest. Preparing to launch a Major Lazer cartoon on Adult Swim, working on M.I.A.'s next album ("It's like Gucci Mane meets Animal Collective.") and now it looks like they've got another EP set to drop. No rest for the weary when your aim is to take over soundsystems worldwide. Download - Major Lazer Feat. M.I.A. – "Sound Of Siren" Props: illRoots

A 45-minute remix? Of a 7-minute original? Ithaca Trio take the long way round on their epic slo-mo "ambient post-rock generative" response to Glissando 's With a Kiss and a Tear (from With Our Arms Wide Open We March Towards the Burning Sea , Gizeh) - while turning in a somehow glowing, wonderfully restrained take on worriedaboutsatan 's delicately jazzy You're In My Thoughts [...]

Just happened to come across this album by Yeasayer which just "dropped" today in music stores/ iTunes . Its going to be one of those bands that is getting alot of buzz these days. I will never see live in concert during my lifetime and skip Ottawa. Please bear with me since I don't know that much of this band. Did some research on them on Wikipedia . That Odd Blood is their second album. That the band is from Brooklyn, New York and that their music has been [...]

It seems like spaced-out dreamy synth musicians are piling up higher than the snowfall in D.C. (terrifyingly untrue zing!). Evan Voytas seems to have quite a history already. According to his Myspace : "He grew a beard, moved to the desert, moved back, shaved the beard, played lead guitar for a few pop acts, toured the world, moved to a farmhouse on a dirt road in Pennsylvania, started recording music, and finally ended up in Los Angeles." Intense! His single, "I Run With You, Spirit Animal" is just wonderful and it has a just wonderful video to accompany [...]
![[MP3] new Sunglasses: "Referee" (Premiere)](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2322831_lg.jpg)
Last week I introduced you to a fantastic new band from Savanah, Georgia known as Sunglasses . The dynamic duo comprised of 8000 bam bam (Samuel Cooper) and Baby Seal (Brady Keehn) busted into my inbox with the great song "Whiplash", complete with an even greater video . While the vid of new music video superstar (Double Dick Rick) dancing on a Mars rover certainly grabs your attention, Sunglasses sent over fresh new jam "Referee" proving they're definitely not one-and-dones: [MP3] Sunglasses - Referee Sunglasses combine the [...]

Just over a year ago, Animal Collective released an album that I noted was "a great balance between art and pop," a trend that continued thoughout 2009, the year that experimental indie bands began to embrace pop sentiments and make amazing albums. Without missing a beat, Yeasayer gives their own brilliant take on experimental and pop on what I'll say is thus far The Best Album of 2010. Odd Blood doesn't exist to be picked apart or analyzed heavily, so I'll do my best to do neither. The second album by the Brooklyn [...]

![Penelope wants to listen to records? Her dirtiest-yet trick … [Curiosities #36]](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2322203_lg.jpg)
Penny, pointing the way as usual ... Lee Hazlewood / Nancy Sinatra - "Some Velvet Morning" I realized the other day that I've written scant little about being a dad and all that. I guess I always figured those blogs are boring as SHIT. I don't read any of those blogs, is what I mean, and so I wouldn't expect that anyone else would want to read anything I'D have to [...]

Kurt Vile has been writing and recording music since junior high, but he only started receiving mass recognition for his songs recently. After jamming with friends in his hometown of Philadelphia for years, including playing lead guitar for the indie rock band The War on Drugs , Vile's solo work slowly began to gain more attention. He started small with a couple 7 inch releases, but soon began releasing longer-playing collections. His 2008 album Constant Hitmaker was released on Gulcher Records to a steady stream of positive buzz as an album succeeding in mixing the immediacy [...]

Who : Yeasayer Title : Oddblood Label : Secretly Canadian RIYL : Bear In Heaven, Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, hippies Thoughts : When All Hour Cymbals was released we were pretty excited for this new band that was burning up everyone's ears thanks to the outstanding first single "2080". What we learned is that Yeasayer had made on perfect song and filled a record with a bunch of mediocre [...]

Philadelphia's mysterious Golden Ages has released three singles from the forthcoming Tradition LP which is scheduled for a Spring 2010 release, and they are all highly recommended downloads for fans of Animal Collective, Panda Bear, and chillwave/glo-fi. The first single, "Everything Will Be Alright," was used as the cornerstone track for the Musical Pairings' chillwave mix , and was chosen for that spot because it reflected the very outer edges of the burgeoning genre. Indeed, Golden Ages isn't really a chillwave artist at all, but instead represents that missing link between the artists [...]

Dipped in Dollars is proud to present our February Mix of the Month , where we ask an up-and-coming artist to present us with a mix/mixtape that will allow us to gain better perspective of their process/show us what we can expect to hear from them in the future. Indian Summer is a little mix I made featuring some of my favorite songs we've been throwing out over these last few months. It doesn't feature any music you'll hear on the upcoming Comanche LP, but it's a solid [...]

Mike Monday is rather fine producer from London. He does wonky housey stuff, kind of, but it's much more than that. His stuff is always musically and rhythmically quirky and inventive, and he is a perennial DJ and press favourite. His last two albums (on Playtime and Om Records respectively) showed off his musical breadth and won him all kinds of critical acclaim. He's also got a release coming up on the seminal Get Physical, which you should definitely track down. Mike has recently put together a rather splendid unofficial remix of the excellent [...]

...then you might fancy The Ruby Suns . These New Zealanders share music for the masses who are willing to sit down and have a listen. Their latest album, Fight Softly , is a bit different sounding than their previous two releases, but if that means nothing to you then just find out for yourself and hold it against me later if you wasted your time.
Last nite, I watched the Super Bowl, because I am currently working in a mainstream office environment, and I secretly feel insecure when every1 else is talking abt a mainstream event, yet I don't have a progressive opinion to 'share' that goes over every12 heads. The Super Bowl seems like a more fulfilling viewing event than awards shows like the Oscars or Grammys or the BCS championship because you have 2 forces/teams 'battling' to be the champion, instead of just voter opinions and computer algorithms. Did u have a 'Super Bowl party' with chips, dips, meats, brewskies, [...]
