British electro-pop singer/ songwriter/ producer Dan Black shook up the music blog scene back in 2008 with his mash-up-to-the-next-level "HYPNTZ" , a half-sung cover of Notorious BIG's "Hypnotize" backed by an entrancing beat that merged bits of Rihanna's " Umbrella" with parts of the soundtrack to John Carpenter's 1984 sci-fi flick Starman . In short, the aural patchwork was utterly brilliant, the kind of stop-you-in-your-tracks introductory record that instantly had you eager to hear more of what this genre-blurring newbie (a sort of modern-day Beck) had to offer in [...]

The anticipation / lead-up for the announcement has been grueling. I love to see how Bonnaroo and Coachella duke it out year after year for the best US music festival lineup. Mile High Music Festival has a chance of being a sleeper this year, due to the Rothbury cancellation and the change in date. MHMF looks to get a lot of Lolla spillage. Bonnaroo Lineup 2010 Dave Matthews Band • Kings of Leon • Stevie Wonder • Jay-Z • Tenacious D • Weezer • [...]
Bonnaroo 2010 So it was bit of a roller coaster ride for those of you following the Bonnaroo lineup announcements today, with new acts being added to the bill every 10 minutes or so via their MySpace page . In the end, the top of the bill headliners for this year's festival are: Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder, Dave Matthews Band , and Kings of Leon . With the exception of Stevie Wonder, who isn't a regular on the festival circuit, in my opinion, this year's headliners are a [...]

Filed under: News , UK Inspiration comes from many sources, be it heartbreak (see Beck 's 'Sea Changes' or Bob Dylan 's 'Blood On The Tracks'), death ( Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds ' 'Murder Ballads') or even simple tributes to fallen heroes ( Radiohead 's 'Harry Patch (In Memory Of)'). But for Kaiser Chiefs it's just simple boredom. Having taken time off after their hometown appearance at the Leeds Festival last year, frontman Ricky Wilson has told the BBC [...]

Bonnaroo is just dying to be a trending topic today, or maybe they're scared their website is going to explode (again) when they unveil their lineup. They've been revealing "#BonnarooClues" the past week or so via Twitter as to who some of the acts on the bill shall be, ranging from Paul McCartney and Paul Simon to D.A.N.C.E.-enthused Justice . If they actually show up on the bill then I'll feel more investigative than Steve Burns himself . So while the Roo execs keep adding artists, [...]

Since 6:47 AM EST this morning, when Phoenix became the first band to confirm its participation for Bonnaroo 2010 , we have been glued to our computers (literally), waiting the rest of this year's act to take similar action. And while it proved incredibly tedious, maddening, and downright inane (at least for those who endured the 14+ hour affair), in the end, the Manchester, TN festival got what it wanted - attention and lots of it. As for the end result of said attention? An initial lineup announcement headed by Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder, Dave Matthews [...]

But they've finally dribbled out enough names to get us pumped: Jay-Z, Weezer, Kid Cudi, Kings of Leon, Wale, Dave Matthews Band and Norah Jones are a few of the big names on this year's incredibly eclectic lineup. Check out the announced performers after the jump (and we'll be updating as more and more acts are revealed): The Avett [...]

A constellation of artists are coming forward with Bonnaroo in the 'virtual event' of the festival line-up. Here's a list of artists already announced on the bill: 311 The Avett Brothers Baroness Bassnectar Black Keys, Blues Traveler Chromeo w/ guest Daryl Hall Cross Canadian Ragweed The Constellations [...]
Here is video of Beck, Jeff Tweedy, Jeff Tweedy's kid, and Feist jamming on "Lawrence of Euphoria" by Skip Spence. This is another product of the Record Club series I mentioned last summer. They have already done album length covers of of Leonard Cohen and the Velvet Underground , going on to cover Oar , the 1969 solo album by Skip Spence of Jefferson Airplane.

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News After a full day of announcing artists one at a time on social networking sites like Twitter and MySpace , Bonnaroo has finally unveiled its full 2010 line-up. It's a good thing they only unveiled it only in spurts at first -- the full line-up is so stacked and top-heavy it's hard to take it all in at once. Seriously. This year's gathering -- which will take place from June 10 to 13 at the festival's 700-acre homestead [...]
