Beck - "Harry Partch" ; The history of the musical feud dates back centuries probably, but in the last few decades it has really been the bearer of some terrific music at the hands of the hated on. This week Beck responded to all this Matt Friedberger (of The Fiery Furnaces) vs. Radiohead vs. Himself controversy with a song dedicated to late composer Harry Partch. Now that's not the same Harry Patch that Radiohead dedicated a song to. This little tune featuring snippets from Fiery Furnaces' songs and Partch's own composition structure really takes Friedberger to town. To [...]

First Impressions gives you some insight into some of the most highly anticipated releases. Zebra Distinct, full-bodied guitar work opens Teen Dream . CLASS ACTRESS TO RELEASE DEBUT EP ON TERRIBLE RECORDS " CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY " MP3 NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD Class Actress began in Elizabeth Harper's bedroom along with producer/psychoanalyst Mark Richardson and some choice vintage synths. The songs quickly grew legs, strutted out of the Greenpoint apartment and now can be seen lighting up all over dark stages. The band pulls from a variety of styles, ranging from the 80's synth pop of Depeche Mode and New Order, the vivaciousness and sexuality of early Madonna, and the bubbly heartbreak of Mazzy Star. Minneapolis dark synth pop band Solid Gold has been on our radar for quite some time now. We've also had several opportunities to chat with these fine young gentlemen about their lives as musicians twice, back in our Mossip days. Also, me being a Minneapolis native i am a huge fan of their work and am always anxious to hear anything new from them. Here is a new single from them entitled "Matter of Time" . In this track Solid Gold sticks with what they know and that's creating lush ethereal dreamscapes accompanied by melancholic lyrics. Take [...]

French alt. rock sensations, Phoenix, have been one of the most talked about bands of 2009. Their brilliant fourth studio album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix has already seen the release of two outstanding singles: 1901 and personal favourite of mine, Lisztomania. I've heard very good things about the band's live show, although recently I've heard murmurings of the ongoing ill health of lead singer Thomas Mars which has caused a couple of below par performances this year, thankfully tonight wasn't one of these, quite the opposite in fact. Tonight's support came from Brooklyn natives Chairlift, my only knowledge [...]
![[MP3] New Collider: "Time Concerns"](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2085894_lg.jpg)
Our friends from a former KR "Keep an Eye On..." feature , San Fransisco's Collider , recently contacted us about a new, free, digital single they've released to the public in anticipation of their new album, set to drop December 31, 2009. The single is called "Time Concerns" (there's also a bonus track called "Modern Ends") and will be on the forthcoming album. "Time Concerns" is full of vigor, with buoyant vocals and guitars painted in distortion, all wrapped up in a synth-heavy, pop-infused mini anthem. As the aesthetic on Collider's bandcamp page implies (correctly), [...]
