Hello everybody!!! It is good to be back!! Sorry about the mass hiatus but I was in South America for a couple of months and it has taken me a month to get my head back. Many thanks must go to Adso for the great work at keeping the blog pumping with all your music needs. Now in the same vein as my Top 15 albums of 2007 , my Top 25 of 2008 and Adso's Favourite 15 albums of 2009 I bring my Top 30 Albums of 2009. Now this list has [...]
In addition to wearing their 80's affection on the sleeves of their red Thriller jackets, there's a section of "Amarillion" where Datarock shows off a few more songs they like. About 3 minutes into the track, behind the vocals, there are lines sung from Cutting Crew's "(I Just) Died In Your Arms," David Bowie's "Changes," [...]
Fresh off last week's solo "mish," the evolution from Geek to Spy again moves quickly* this week for Chuck. For an episode that is still really meant to set up future episodes, there was a lot of fun to be had, and I keep thinking how much I enjoyed this episode, and yet it's the lesser of the first six we've seen in the show's third season. * The opening scene with flashback to the pilot, while initially a setup for Kristen Kreuk's entrance (to Datarock's "Amarillion" ), was a great illustration of just how [...]

I met Marius Drogsås Hagen a few years ago in Norway, in a small town north of Oslo. The common denominator which got us talking all night was, of course, music. In spite of Jaqueline , his 'main' band, starting to get a lot of exposure at the time, he was developing ideas for two projects (one a solo project called Team Me , the second a band, SiN , started with Tord from the Wombats ). Three years and many written songs later, I followed him into a hijacked school he [...]

Since there seem to be so few recounts of Falls (with the exception of facebook promoted blog, The Vine) I am putting in my two bits for what definitely feels like my last Falls. Not due to Falls sucking but due to me sucking. More accurately, I feel really old. As in, I-went-to-bed-at-10.30-on-the- first-night old! Let me go back a few steps for those overseas or who just don't know what Falls is. It's a music festival comparable to Woodstock. A bunch of music lovers (and hippies) camp out, get drunk/happy and love life and music, watching performers from all [...]
In the foggy mists of lat November we held our final L'Amour Electronique of 2009. We had something of an enforced guest DJ situation (long story), but it all worked as well as it could've, with their electronic burblings mixing not-too-jarringly with our French bubblegum and poppier synth sounds. Verity New Order – Elegia Glass Candy – Life After Sundown Zouzou – Tu Fais Partie De Passé Etienne Daho – Rendez-vous á Vedra Michel Polnareff – La Mouche Add N to (X) – Poke 'Er 'Ole Pram – Omnichord [...]

Hearing all the fuzz about Southbound, it is foolish to even think of passing this annual arts, camping and music festival. Taking the advice of the co-writer, voluntary role it is. Work a couple hours as a wristbander and get free campsite and entry to the festival in exchange, sounds like a awesome deal to me. So off I go on a bus ride 3 hours south of Perth, where I spent a magnificent weekend of some good rock and roll and campin'. [...]

Το "Foe and Dear" (θα μπορούσε να είχε γραφτεί για το "Nights Out") προέρχεται από ένα σπάνιο promotional EP που κυκλοφόρησε η μπάντα το 2005 για την εταιρία Ισπανικών παπουτσιών Wonders. Πατάς gas και χορεύεις με ένα παπούτσι... Metronomy: "Foe and Dear" [ mp3 ] Και μια live ειδησούλα: Οι Δανοί [...]
FEATHERS The first post of the year, and the decade, will begin with a themed blog of sorts. We used to do this all the time, but not so much recently, so it's a joy to do three recommendations that all create a similar feel. Today's themed sound? They're calling it 'chill wave', a kind of drifting electro surf pop, a sound that floats out of the speakers like perfume. All good bloggers were probably visitors to other blogs prior to creating their own and we are no different. Some blogs tower above the rest and [...]

photos by Ryan Muir Happy Holidays! I take on more than I can handle. That results in a lot of unposted content. In the name of catching up, while also taking it easy during this final week of the year, here's some of that lost material. "I paid a visit to the LES to catch Swedish/Norwegian singer Karin Park make her NY debut. Park's band which consists of herself (vocals/keyboards) and her [...]

Leave it to Baron Von Luxxury to tie up all the raddest parts of 2009 and package them in a nearly 50 minute dreamy mix of monstrously mouth-watering munchies. THE 'BRISBANE, QLD' EDITION RIO LOBOTOMY ... ... is a collaboration between Charlie Murdoch (Charlie Why/Mitzi) and Adam Hunter ( WolfGang DJs / We're Wolf) from Brisbane, Australia. Their first project together is a re-working of the club classic 'Bostich' from Yello, as part of Beatport's 'Legends of Electronic Music' remix series. Inspired by the punk attitude to electronic music adopted by the likes of In Flagranti, Padded Cell & Optimo, as well as infomercials and quiz shows of decades past - expect to hear and see more from [...]
