"Congratulations" 01. "It's Working" 02. "Song for Dan [...]

Just happened to come across this album by Yeasayer which just "dropped" today in music stores/ iTunes . Its going to be one of those bands that is getting alot of buzz these days. I will never see live in concert during my lifetime and skip Ottawa. Please bear with me since I don't know that much of this band. Did some research on them on Wikipedia . That Odd Blood is their second album. That the band is from Brooklyn, New York and that their music has been [...]
This is what MGMT are dressing like these days: Yes, out goes the dayglo, in comes a serious-faced new direction for the new album. It's called Congratulations, it's out in April and there's a press release: Congratulations is a collection of nine individual musical tours de force sequenced to flow with sonic and thematic coherence. Oh, dear. On the other hand, Sonic Boom and Jennifer Herrema have both been involved - producing and singing respectively, which makes you feel a bit more [...]
True story: I heard "Ruby Soho" at a sushi bar last week and I instantly thought that Vampire Weekend would sound great performing this. And they do. Everyone's favorite chart-topping indie darlings stopped by a popular radio show, and covered Rancid's "Ruby Soho", an event to which I will ascribe cosmological significance to, given what happened at the sushi bar. I've always felt that the best covers are those that wouldn't sound or feel misplaced in an artist's body of work. Vampire Weekend's rendition "Ruby Soho" sounds like it would fit perfectly between "Campus" [...]
Months ago, when MGMT announced they were working on the follow-up to their highly successful album Oracular Spectacular , they told fans to expect more experimentation on their forthcoming sophomore effort. We have since learned that the album has been given the title of Congratulations (Is it meant to be as self-congratulatory as it seems?), and new details have been revealed through an exclusive interview with Spin . For starters, the album was mostly inspired by surfing, but it also lifts inspiration from Lady Gaga and the world economic crisis. These sorts of themes [...]
They didn't nab either of the two Grammys they were up for last week, but no matter—synthy hipsters MGMT are moving on to brighter things, like their sophomore album Congratulations . "It's definitely going to shock people," Andrew Vanwyngarden, one half of the duo, told Spin of the new album (due out April 13). "We dropped any sort of irony that was on the first record, and Congratulations feels true to who we really are." And who are they really? Apparently a band whose influences this time [...]
