Reuse Recycle Remix is a feature where I take remixes that for one reason or another didn't earn their own post or didn't make it on Scene Not Heard. Some of these are super current (Basement Jaxx remix dropped about 2 hours ago) and some are a few months old. Maybe this is a digital collector's bin... On Jan 16, 2010 Memory Tapes played their first ever live show. The show took place in Manchester and lucky for us youtube user Blikeng86 show a really great looking video. The yellow glasses wearing asshat singing over Dayve is obnoxious but this is a great video. I'm particularly impressed with how organic the song comes off -organic is not what I would call the record. Also: Here are a couple of Memory Tapes remixes I haven't had a chance to play/post yet including a brand new one for a new Tanlines track. [...]

The first chunks of this year's Field Day festival line-up have today been announced, and heck it looks good. Phoenix have been revealed as headliners, with Caribou , Esben & The Witch , James Holden , Memory Tapes and Pantha du Prince . Fill line up so far is here . More updates here the moment I get them. The date is Saturday 31 July and earlybird tickets cost a cute £33.33 + booking fee via See Tickets . Expect all the extra staples - quirky [...]

Can you fall in love and still be ready for the floor? Indeed. What booty-shaking points Hot Chip loses, they gain in album cohesion. A record about unabashed love (for you, me, their brothers…) plays out with more gravity than you'd guess and more dancing than you'd dare hope. Reminds us of: The Avalanches | "Everything is Wrong/Play" era Moby | Memory Tapes Hot Chip: ( Official | MySpace ) Hot Chip One Life Stand

Philadelphia's mysterious Golden Ages has released three singles from the forthcoming Tradition LP which is scheduled for a Spring 2010 release, and they are all highly recommended downloads for fans of Animal Collective, Panda Bear, and chillwave/glo-fi. The first single, "Everything Will Be Alright," was used as the cornerstone track for the Musical Pairings' chillwave mix , and was chosen for that spot because it reflected the very outer edges of the burgeoning genre. Indeed, Golden Ages isn't really a chillwave artist at all, but instead represents that missing link between the artists [...]

Golden Ages is a bedroom producer who creates a mixed breed of psychedelic pop and chillwave. Hailing from Philadelphia, this anonymous music project is influenced by the likes of Panda Bear, Washed Out, Toro Y Moi, Fuck Buttons and Memory Tapes. On the Golden Ages full-length debut, Tradition , he combines pounding beats with chanting, atmospheric vocals and layers of synth loops for a trance-inducing sound. This is another addition to the short list of really cool things I've heard in 2010. No one seems to know the real identity behind Golden Ages, but I hear [...]

I first heard Franklin Bruno when I picked up an album from his band Nothing Painted Blue (ØPB). I'm not sure what led me to the purchase; perhaps a good review in a fanzine or simply the visual appeal of the album cover, but it was a fortuitous purchase. A Baby, A Blanket, a Packet of Seeds started what has been a 20-year streak of dependably outstanding releases. My look back was precipitated by Bruno's own. He just released a collection of his solo odds and ends from 1992-98, dubbed [...]

Having recently played his first live shows as Memory Tapes, Philadelphia's Dayve Hawk joined a seated, strumming Bradford Cox at the Bell House Wednesday night. It was a sell-out, which shouldn't surprise anybody; Brooklyn hipsters love Cox. We sent Natasha Ryan to take some shots, which are here for you to click through because of how much you love photos. Enjoy 'em.

The good people over at Impose have put up some photos from the Atlas Sound show at the Bell House. While I'm ready to chuck Memory Tapes into the half-full bin of cool-but-a-bit-emotionally-bor ing glo-fi (or whatever) acts, I've never felt more strongly that Bradford Cox is a mad-scientist-genius-circus-fr eak walking around amongst the rest of us mortal men. I've never seen anyone use pedals and button-pushing, as I so tenderly call it, to such effect, turning his voice and acoustic guitar into the most wonderful, surprising, joyful, and inventive layers of sound I could ask for. Check out the [...]

Another collection of recent remixes for your listening pleasure. Some real gems in a here and a few others that are more "interesting" than "awesome." Read on. Rock om. And if you want more jams by any of these artists use the 'tags' links at the bottom of the post! ♫ Vampire Weekend - Cousinz (Toy Selectah Mex-More Remix) / The challenge of the evening is going to have more fun than this remix. It's as if the song itself is grinning from ear to ear. And jumping up and down. ♫ Boy [...]

gucci mane - "frowny face (emynd remix feat. playboy tre)" (download) From Mad Decent 's officialr Free Gucci mixtape. Philadelphia's Emynd takes on "Frowny Face" with Atlanta rapper Playboy Tre . Probably my favorite remix on the mixtape. The whole thing is really worth checking out though, and features an all star cast of remixers like Flying Lotus , Memory Tapes , Diplo , Zomby and more. Go grab it over at the Mad Decent site [...]

words & photos by Dominick Mastrangelo "I had this all planned out," said Atlas Sound 's Bradford Cox, "This was going to be a mind-blowing second song." Cox battled technical issues with one of his loop machines throughout his sold out show at the Bell House in Brooklyn , dropping it on the stage several times to get it to work. Through it all, the Deerhunter frontman handled the technical difficulties with grace, humor and self-deprecating wit. Once [...]

Washed Out , Real Estate , JJ , Mountain Man , and Memory Tapes all at one party? This is way too good to be true. Looks like Dipped in Dollars will be spending a lot of time at the Mexican Summer / Gorilla vs Bear showcase at SXSW . Washed Out - Luck Real Estate - Pool Swimmers [...]
"HOW CAN SNOOKI FIND AN ITALIAN JUICE-HEAD GUIDO IN LAS VEGAS? WHERE WILL JWOWW FIND GORILLA CENTRAL, AND WHERE WILL THE CAST DANCE IN EMPTY BARS AT 7PM??" I'm on the floor in tears over this. Funniest thing I've seen in a really long time and by far the best Jersey Shore related YouTube video. Absolutely brilliant. I truly fell in love with this group of guidos and guidettes and I'm prepared to watch them fist pump their way across the globe. The possibilities are endless. They've broken barriers like nothing else. [...]
