Geaux Saints! Did you catch the Super Bowl last night? More importantly, did you watch The Who during the halftime spectacular. I've got my thoughts on how it all played out, which I was extremely verbal about during the presentation. No need to rehash, but you can scroll through my twittered-frustrations here if you must. Now that the footballing is over, we're ready to focus on an extremely busy week, chock full of rad new music news. [...]

It's been nearly forever since last we'd heard from the one and only Mr Vega (ok, not really "nearly forever", our hyperbole is outlandish, sure) but that's all ending right now. Sure, maybe the six weeks since the last tracks...
Shelby Lynne will follow up her superb 2007 Dusty Springfield tribute disc Just A Little Lovin' with a self-produced new project Tears, Lies, And Alibis due April 20 on her own newly founded independent label. "I've made records for 20 years and never been more excited," says Lynne. "I finally have the creative control I've needed to get my vision out there." The new project is said to have relatively stripped down sound and some old school elements from a studio band that includes members of the famed Muscle Shoals Swampers: David Hood and Spooner [...]
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and crew are "devastated" after sound man (and frontman Robert Beens' father) Michael Been's valuable gear was stolen from the band's storage locker, Chart Attack reports. The message identifies the stolen equipment as a 1954 Fender Esquire (yellow with black pick guard), a 1968 Ampeg Scrolltop fretless bass, a 1964 black Fender Precision bass, and a 1968 Gretsch Country Gentleman Single Cutaway. Why do people feel they need to apologize before summing up the years best tunes? It's a great way to show readers what you were all about this year and therefore what sounds you'll be into next year. No apologies here. I love making lists. It's one of the only ways of justifying the unhealthy amount of music I consume throughout the year. Instead of some big magazine with a lot of people to please telling you what was good last year here's my pick for best dance singles of 2009: [...]
So 2009 has been such a crazy year for The Record Machine. I love this time of year. I feel like personally I start winding down a bit and get to look back over the last year and see how far we have come and start to dream on how much father we can get next year. So first off let me talk about 2009. We released 6 records which is twice as many in a single year then any year in the past. Every one of them are amazing and I believe so much in all of them and [...]
DJ EARWORM - UNITED STATE OF POP (BLAME IT ON THE POP) (YSI) So the year's coming to a close, which once again blows my mind. I feel like it flew by, but that's probably because there's so many nights I have no recollection of. Anyway, I figured I'd leave a batch of songs that deserve some recognition because they touched my soul, got me laid, or I blacked out while partying to them on multiple occassions. BEST NEW ARTISTS [...]

Earlier this month, VEVO , the online music video website owned by Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, EMI and Abu Dhabi Media Company, launched. Live coverage was provided by the site, with commentary and performances by everyone from Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Adam Lambert, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga . One highlight from the star-studded evening was the latter's emotional performance of Speechless , a gripping [...]

Hi there, "It's been a while" seems to become my new opening line, but this time I really have an excuse. University made me write an essay about Three-phase, full-bridge diode rectifiers and … On to the more interesting stuff: Earlier this year I had the pleasure to meet some guy that happened to be a DJ through a mutual friend. After some track exchanges and telling him I wrote for this blog, he was interested to appear on it. Didn't happen for a long while though, you know me: busy, busy, busy. But now the [...]
