The organizers of the Tennessee music festival Bonnaroo are making us sweat it out sloooowly by revealing the lineup for this year's fest one act at a time on their MySpace page . But they've finally dribbled out enough names to get us pumped: Jay-Z, Weezer, Kid Cudi, Kings of Leon, Wale, Dave Matthews Band and Norah Jones are a few of the big names on this year's incredibly eclectic lineup. Check out the announced performers after the jump (and we'll be updating as more and more acts are revealed): The Avett [...]

As Los Angeles is socked in with rain, today seemed like a good day to delve in to Massive Attack's latest, Heligoland , out today. Certain artists are most conducive to listen to during different times of the year- for instance, Dr Dre's The Chronic is best enjoyed on a hot summer day, with the top down and a shortie riding shotgun. I suggest Diane Birch's Bible Belt should be listened to with the leaves turning colors and and a nice warm latte in one's hand. Throw on Bob Dylan's Together [...]

You know how when you ask a marijuana-loving friend of yours to pick you up a soda on his way over to your house and he shows up three days later with the soda and like a couple strangers, a Buick that's clearly been in an accident and the cousin you haven't seen since the 1987 family reunion? That is what watching Bonnaroo announcing its 2010 lineup over a twelve hour period today has been like so far, and we're only halfway there! Still, what we've got so far is enough to buy tickets immediately and begin shopping [...]

A constellation of artists are coming forward with Bonnaroo in the 'virtual event' of the festival line-up. Don't worry though, no need to troll MySpace, Twitter and any number of band websites to try and figure out if this Manchester, Tennessee multi-day fest will rock. Here's a list of artists already announced on the bill: 311 The Avett Brothers Baroness Bassnectar Black Keys, Blues Traveler Chromeo w/ guest Daryl Hall Cross Canadian Ragweed The Constellations [...]

Seeing that Jay-Z was just announced as a top performer on Bonnaroo's MySpace (remember that site?), I couldn't help but wonder, who's selling out more in this arrangement? The hippie jam band fest in cohorts with the Hip-Hop's icon of individual capitalistic gain? Or the self-proclaimed street hustler taking to the stage about as far from the Marcy Projects as anywhere this side of the moon. I'd say the music festival. Jay-Z's never fronted his reasoning for entering the game, and if that means playing "On to the Next [...]
Tis the season for music festivals, and Tennessee's Bonnaroo is no exception. The three day festival takes place in Manchester from June 10-13th, and features an eclectic list of bands: Jay Z, The Flaming Lips (Performing Dark Side of The Moon), Tokyo Police Club, Jay Electronica, Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers, Regina Spektor, Mayer Hawthorne & the Country, and the list goes on. The festival's broad range of group will surely satisfy an equally broad spectrum, but will also... Read more at www.SFCritic.com
Not too long after Coachella and the Pitchfork Music Festival revealed parts of their official 2010 lineups, Manchester, Tennessee's four-day Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival is doing the same. Announced throughout the day (one act every six minutes) via the festival's Myspace , this year's lineup (as of now) includes several large acts including Jay-Z , Phoenix and The Flaming Lips performing Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon . Several other acts include Weezer , Wale , [...]

Your music teacher has long hair and smokes a lot of weed? Cool, my music teacher is in The Flaming Lips. You might have heard of them. This conversation did not actually happen, but legitimately could have taken place at the University of Central Oklahoma this week, where the Lips' Steven Drozd will give a Master Class within the Academy of Contemporary Music he helped launch with Lips' manager, Scott Booker. No exact word on what Drozd will be lecturing on, but according to Spinner [...]

The initial line up announcement for the 2010 Bonnaroo concert has caused the official website to slow to a crawl , but we're plucking what information we can from the internet about the festival taking place in Manchester, TN, on June 10-13, 2010. Phoenix , Weezer , Jeff Beck , and more are all scheduled to play. The weirdest performance announcement? The Flaming Lips will be playing Dark Side of the Moon . We won't even try to explain that one. The acts we know so far are after the jump. [...]

As we recently reported , the Bonnaroo Music Festival will be rolling out their official 2010 lineup announcement today starting at noon EST , in continuation of their annual lineup tease-fest. However, a number of bands seemingyl wanted to boost traffic to their own websites couldn't wait to break the news to the world that they'll be on this year's lineup, so we've already got a number of artists confirmed. Stay tunes to LMB, as we'll be updating the official lineup as the artists are confirmed throughout the day... [...]

Over the last couple of weeks, there has been a lot of news swirling in regards to the lineup for the ninth annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival . All the "he said, she said" will finally come to a close today as Superfly and AC Entertainment will roll out their initial roster of talent via their MySpace page today at Noon with some artists jumping the gun by a few hours. Stick with Hidden Track, as we find out just who is headed to Manchester this [...]
Bonnaroo is just dying to be a trending topic today, or maybe they're scared their website is going to explode (again) when they unveil their lineup. They've been revealing "#BonnarooClues" the past week or so via Twitter as to who some of the acts on the bill shall be, ranging from Paul McCartney and Paul Simon to D.A.N.C.E.-enthused Justice . If they actually show up on the bill then I'll feel more investigative than Steve Burns himself . So while the Roo execs keep adding artists, [...]
Just like it took years to realize what an incredible year 1999 was to cinema, expect the "What was the best album of the last decade?" debate to go on for years. More than ten years ago, I was reading reviews of the just-released Flaming Lips album The Soft Bulletin. As Napster and music downloads were still pretty much in their infancy in 1999, and our one college radio station maybe played one song from The Soft Bulletin every third day or so, I trusted critics and shelled out the $15. All it took was one listen to floor [...]
by Kevin Diamond Athens gets most of the Georgia-based indie-cred; from R.E.M. to the B-52s to Of Montreal, there's no denying that the city has been father to some amazing bands. Recently, however, some new young bnads have begun crafting a strong case for Atlanta being crowned the new Georgian hot-spot of cool. Case in point: Carnivores and their album All Night Dead USA . Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Rather than take the traditional route of making a big lineup announcement, Bonnaroo organizers are taking a different tack this year: they're letting the artists make the announcements themselves. So far, Weezer , Phoenix , OK Go , Flaming Lips , Dave Matthews Band , Jeff Beck and [...]

On Feb 10 The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma will present a master class with Flaming Lips multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd. Open only to enrolled students, the class will consist of an interview and audience Q&A with Drozd who will discuss musicianship as well as aspects of life as a professional musician. "I wish this [school] would have been around when I was a 17- or 18-year-old kid," Drozd told NPR. Hear that interview with Drozd and the school's CEO and Lips manager Scott Booker on NPR's Weekend Edition here: http://bit.ly/uey92 [...]

Filed under: News Students wanting to get a lesson from the Flaming Lips ' Steven Drozd (pictured) now have a date to circle in their diaries. As previously reported on Spinner , the multi-instrumentalist is set to teach at the newly institutionalized Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma. The program aims to teach students about both the construction and composition of music as well as the business side of the music industry. Well, this should be fun. The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival has proved to be quite the epic annual event. For its 2010 edition, the festival organizers have decided to make the lineup announcement equally epic, so for the next 24 hours or so we'll be glued to our computer screens waiting to see who will be hitting Manchester, Tennessee from June 10-13. As previously mentioned, the lineup announcement will work something like this. Unlike previous announcements, the 2010 bill will not be unveiled all at once, but rather throughout the day, with the goal being [...]
