NYC's own Bayside has been embraced by many for their infectous melodies and honest lyrics. After releasing four albums on Victory Records, the band signed with Wind-Up Records and started recording their fifth album with acclaimed producer Gil Norton (Jimmy Eat World, Foo Fighters, Dashboard Confessional). I had a chance to speak with Bayside's lead singer Anthony Raneri about recording the new album and their upcoming tour with Senses Fail. [...]

Cory Branan comes through town tonight to play the first of two nights at the White Eagle. And just who is Cory Branan anyway? Don't hold the name against him: He's not the missing teen-idol link between Haim and Feldman, but rather a rootsy singer/songwriter from Mississippi. He hangs out with Lucero. He gets covered by Dashboard Confessional (it happens to the best of us). As a kid, Branan listened to a bunch of John Prine and seemed at one point to be on the same steady path as Ryan Adams or Conor Oberst, according to a [...]

MUST-SEE SHOW: 7/20 Flaming Lips & Fang Island @ Station Square Amphitheatre Last year I finally crossed the Flaming Lips off my concert bucket list, and the show was everything I've been led to believe it would be. It was intense sensory overload with confetti cannons, furry costumes and the giant ball of Wayne Coyne. The music's not bad, either. ALSO WORTH ATTENDING: 7/10 Dave Matthews Band & Zac Brown Band @ PNC Park Dave Matthews Band's 2009 album Big Whiskey was [...]

Augustana join the Crows again, and this time they also welcome rapper NOTAR . The tour kicks off July 3rd in Milwaukee, WI at SummerFest. A worthwhile cover version is such a rare thing. Most artists play it straight and turn the whole exercise into a wedding band performance, while others try to stamp their own personality on a cover and end up completely eroding what it was that made the original song special in the first place. When I heard that one my favourite Belle & Sebastian tracks had made it onto American husband and wife duo Mates Of State's new covers album Crushes, it seemed like as good a reason as any to whore the internet for other foreigners covering [...]
