Yesterday on Australia's FBi Radio, XL subsidiary label Young Turks took over. Amongst an exciting show that featured a live performance from Chairlift and a mix from The xx's Romy, Jamie xx had a new song premiered. The song is entitled "Touch Me" and incorporates some balearic influences. You can hear the whole two hour show below, or if you just want the Jamie xx part we've cut that bit out for you to download and keep. Check out both below. MP3: Touch Me (Radio rip) [...]

If any album warrants "early contender" status for Album of the Year, Kathleen Edwards ' latest Voyageur certainly qualifies. While any Edwards release warrants celebration, the Canadian songstress has outdone herself on her latest – a showpiece in a catalogue filled with gems. Voyageur is an intelligent convergence of the many roads that she's travelled to date. The dusty rock of Asking For Flowers is still a vibrant part of the proceedings, while enough Failer- style acoustics linger for long-time fans. However, Voyageur blends [...]

Hey, do you guys remember D.VELOPED ? We've featured his music on here a few times in the the past. While mashups generally aren't our thing, it's hard to overlook D's precision and level of skill on the decks. His reworks typically involve four or five different tracks, all stacked one on top of the other, to create a freakishly intricate yet well thought out product that often results in a blowing of the mind. His latest release Work:Party is a 40-minute song-orgy consisting of 22 individual cuts sewn together into one single fabric of sound. As [...]
Behind every conspiracy theory there exists a modicum of truth. In the case of the Midnight Conspiracy, however, you should believe everything you've heard. Spread the word; this isn't a fire drill. They surprised fans recently with an unannounced preview of their new "Eye Live" laser light show during a sold out headlining event at Lincoln Hall in Chicago. "We've been working on the new stage setup over the winter and just wanted to take this bad boy for a test run," said Louis Kha of Midnight Conspiracy . "We don't quite yet know how to drive [...]

Our buddy Anthony Valadez tipped us to this nice lights-pulled-back version of Kanye's "Can't Tell Me Nothing" by NYC artist Francis and the Lights during his (must listen) Monday night KCRW show this week. The track's more collected, pensive performance is an interesting counterpoint to Ye's told-ya-so braggadocio on the original. Francis and the Lights - Can't Tell Me Nothing (Kanye West) Francis and the Lights ( Facebook ) Rating 8.2

Imagine a place where you can wake up in the Bahamas and find yourself on a private beach listening to Dave Nada playing moombahton or running into Brodinski as you leave the Fools gold rap party to grab some soft serve ice cream before you go see Zedd. A place where one can win the Steve Aoki poker tournament then set up shop at the breakfast buffet at 6 am and play electro for 4 hours. A place where controllerism and tableism can co-exist as A-Trak scratches over Skrillex. A place where music fans and artists alike eagerly await the [...]
Heads up party people! Los Angeles' old Galaxy Theatre just got renovated and renamed The Observatory , and it's a damn sick place to party. On Saturday, January 21st, Into The AM invited Robert DeLong and Dillon Francis to give the venue a test run. I was impressed right off the bat with the clear sound quality; the wooden floors made for an excellent rumbling massage for my feet. I wasn't familiar with opener Robert DeLong, but the intensity of his experimental performance was quite surprising. It was an [...]

Without doubt, the festival scene is alive and well. As you probably are well aware by now, Coachella actually scheduled the exact same line up for 2 weekends this year, and still sold both events out in record time. Not only are there large fests though, there are several dozen smaller fests. Since 2009, 35 Denton in Denton, TX has been growing. The first year had 124 bands and over 4,000 fans. Past artists have included The Flaming Lips, Big Boi, Neon Indian, Portugal. The Man, Health, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Dr. Dog, Sarah Jaffe, [...]

Francis Bebey's legacy in the popularisation of African music and African styles can not be disputed, having released a mass of popular albums and being largely responsible for throwing the music of Manu Dibango into the limelight, he was also a famed novelist & artist...dude was busy, so busy infact that there's a whole bunch of recordings that have gone fairly unnoticed and under appreciated for years, ridiculous considering that these are potentially the most forward thinking forays into the combining of minimal electronic techniques & traditional African instrumentation to emerge. Thankfully [...]

Looking back on my photos of 2011, if there's one takeaway, it's that production value at festivals has gone WAY up. If there's two, it's that I shouldn't have waited til December to buy a wide angle lens. Anyway, this article is something of a story in photos. I started shooting in April after I graduated, improved dramatically by October (after all the festivals were done), and bought some real gear in December. Look out 2012! While you read on, why not listen to AutoErotique's latest mix? [...]

Blockhead As I walked onto the soccer pitch at Lake Tahoe Community College, I saw the main stage - SnowGlobe stage - front and center in my line of vision. Up behind the tables at the moment (Pretty Lights would be up there much later that evening blowing our minds) was Blockhead, the DJ/Producer (Murs, Aesop Rock) from Manhattan, NY. It was a day show, and the first one at that, so the crowd was sparse while Anthony Simon was spinning. His hip-hop production background was evident in his set, providing samples that bled [...]
Today I'm excited to bring you one of the sickest New Years festivals I've seen in awhile. Snow Globe music festival is taking place in South Lake Tahoe, California this year on December 29th, 30th, and 31st. It's got an incredibly full lineup featuring so many of my favorite acts. From Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, to Porter Robinson, Dillon Francis, and A-Trak, and then Thievery Corporation, Big Gigantic, Paper Diamond, and Two Fresh, as well as Childish Gambino and Theophilus London, and Dilated Peoples on top of Datsik, Figure, and The M Machineand and don't forget Robotic Pirate [...]
