Honestly, I'm a little surprised that my blog is still here after Blogger's rampage today. The switch to Wordpress is coming together nicely and I can breathe a little easier knowing that I've got the whole blog backed up on a Wordpress site just waiting to get designed so I can make this official. I can also breathe easier knowing that if Blogger does delete my blog at this point, I can call them suckers and dream killers and suggest that they go get fucked. Rest in peace to all the fallen blogs. *Pours out cup of Orangina onto carpet* [...]

Last nite, I watched the Super Bowl, because I am currently working in a mainstream office environment, and I secretly feel insecure when every1 else is talking abt a mainstream event, yet I don't have a progressive opinion to 'share' that goes over every12 heads. The Super Bowl seems like a more fulfilling viewing event than awards shows like the Oscars or Grammys or the BCS championship because you have 2 forces/teams 'battling' to be the champion, instead of just voter opinions and computer algorithms. Did u have a 'Super Bowl party' with chips, dips, meats, brewskies, [...]

It's not always an easy ride when bands try to break it Stateside, especially when you are one of the biggest selling bands in the UK. I am talking about the Editors, who have released two platinum albums, been nominated for Best British Band, headlined the biggest festivals and consistently sold-out venues across Europe. You could say they are Britain's indie darlings. So, it's understandable how a band with such an impressive resume can go slightly unheard of amongst the great mass of North America. Last night, however, Editors proved how easy it was with a little English charm. [...]
As promised, here's the second half of the interview with David and Peter Brewis of Field Music after their gig in Brooklyn on 30 January 2010. In this half, we discuss topics as diverse as their musical influences, music history, music piracy, "staycations" and the future of the band - aren't you glad you came back? Note: The audio of this interview is located below. The transcript is included below and after the cut. Descriptions of what is happening have been placed between asterisks, i.e. "*Peter enters the room*" [...]
I can't say I've been on the front line of this whole drumstep thing, the only other tune I've sat down and seriously listened to is Original Sin's 'Step On', but what I can say is that this track is ridiculous; it's major. Filthier than a Victorian sewer and darker than a Medieval dungeon, it's got the same hectic vibe as a nasty DJ Hazard cut and the chest boxing punch of a crusty Bar 9 dub. In short, it makes me feel dirty and I like it. Grooverider chats over the start of this clip but it's [...]

THAT'S NOT MY NAME So where to start ? I lay back and pondered exactly what it was that JC expected of me in this first Sunday column. I shut my eyes and wondered…… Was there any point digging out some old Scottish records, when JC does that so much better every other day. Perhaps I could reminisce about the Goth Wars – the abuse, physical and verbal, that we took in the 80s and all because we dared to back comb our long dark spiky hair, add some eye [...]

If we presented to you The Canon Logic and simply told you, as so eloquently put by SceneWave , they were like "The Killers combined with upbeat Beach Boys like vocal harmonies and sing-it-out-loud choruses", we're almost sure that'd be enough for you to run out and eat up everything they've got to offer musically. Sadly, that alone wouldn't be doing them and their song "Nights At Armour Mansion" justice. The five-piece band from Brooklyn undoubtedly have taken their cues from Las Vegas' The Killers. "Nights At Armour Mansion" finds lead singer Tim Kiely [...]

Joseph Smith was either a prophet of God or a charlatan. He was considered both a man chosen by Jehovah as a modern-day oracle who would lead humanity back to the One True Church and bring about Gods Kingdom on earth, and a philandering con man who abused the trust of his gullible followers by taking a second-rate novel and using it as the basis for his cult of personality. He was a charismatic leader who upon receiving his first Revelation in 1832, managed to spread a new brand of Christianity around the world in just a few short years. [...]

(Indie Pop/Alternative/Indie Rock) Belgian Showstar have more in common with the indie pop from out of Scandanavia than they do with the indie rock bands sweeping the British charts throughout the 90s. Despite having toured throughout their 8 years together with the likes of The Rakes, The Thrills, Maximo Park and The Charlatans - to me they sound more like Finnish indie pop band 'Cats on Fire' or Swedish band 'Days' when i hear what their promo album has to offer me. Most of their 2010 [...]
Today is the birthday of this blog. 4 years old! Since I launched it, many blogs have called it quit and actually I have stopped to read blogs as much as I used to back in 2006. Me? I am not tired of dealing with the Swedish scene in Frenglish at all, so I do not plan to stop Absolut Noise. And yes, I will keep on with the cheesy "blogspot.com" thing and this old-fashion layout. Also, since it is a birthday, let's celebrate here with 16 songs for you (see below, after the French translation): some B-sides, live stuff, [...]
