Old-fashioned heartbreak for the eyes and the ears, Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson partnered up for their cuter-than-cute U.S. television premiere of "Realtor," from collaborative album The Break Up (Rhino), on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. For a song about not respecting each other, Yorn and Johansson seem ultimately in sync performing next to each other [...]

I know this is a bit later than usual, but Southern California doesn't really experience fall until around November. In any case, better late than never I suppose. Fall's Hope is a mix of heartbreaking songs that I think capture the season rather beautifully. There are some new artists on here, along with some blog favorites, and I hope you enjoy the hell out of every last song. If you do, please consider supporting the artist by buying their album or at least the song! [...]

Scarlett Johansson's cleavage is definitely the 8th wonder of the world. She may be the only person around who can moon someone by just wearing a tank top. It's like she's hiding replica Dr. Evil heads in there. Jesus! Related posts: Punky Brewster is a Fox Jesus! Soleil Moon Frye is clearly the puberty winner from... In Regards to the Underwear Tanktop [...]
Contrast Podcast recently asked music bloggers like myself to submit our favorite 50 songs of the year for their annual "Festive 503 podcast. Our selections were then compiled into a shortlist and now we've been asked to recruit votes to narrow it down. For the curious, I've bolded the 10 songs I personally voted for. I really, really want "Nice Very Nice" by Kurt Vonnegut & Dave Soldier (from their album Ice-9 Ballads ) to make the final list. Not only because it's my favorite song of the year, from my favorite album of the year, [...]

Matter of Time mp3 The Leisure Society The Sleeper ..... ..... buy it Well, now this is getting interesting... Over at the Contrast Podcast , Tim's solicited everyone for their favorite 50 songs of 2009, remember? From all the responses he's compiled the top 155. I'm very impressed with the list! If you didn't submit your faves yet, you've still got a chance to get in the game at this point! Help us out, eh? (I"ve highlighted my top 10 in blue) Here's [...]

Attack of the drones The London electro-pop trio have moved on massively from their first kitchen sink gig at a friend's house in the spring of 2008, to being among the first slew of bands announced for next year's SXSW festival. The band have been among the 'ones to watch' lists for some time. However, the limelight that shone on the majority of solo female electro acts (La Roux, Little Boots) in 2009 is set to radiate their way in 2010. The band - which describes their sound as "8-bit [...]
Last night Sydney's Summit Restaurant set temperatures soaring as a room full of babes turned up for the unveiling of Who Weekly's Sexiest People list. The latest issue of Who Weekly features our very own home grown hotties Miranda Kerr, Megan Gale and Ruby Rose on the cover. The girls managed to pull off a sexy beach shoot, even though "freezing temperatures blew into Melbourne on the morning of the shot" and Rose was "battling a nasty cold". There were the expected beautiful faces on the list, such as the 'bloody sexy' Robert Pattinson, Angelina [...]

Since my absence, I've been living under the rock for the past few months and in effect missed out on a lot of news and tracks coming out. While catching up, I came across these !ack^$*(%) awesome finds I know you and many others will find worth listening to in the long run. Had so much fun making this list so here I am sharing it with everyone. You'll find 30 GREAT TRACKS : Jason Lytle , a couple of songs from Passion Pit , great tracks from Grizzly Bear , [...]

Wunderkid Will Stratton 's newest LP, No Wonder , dropped earlier this week and I'd be remiss not to share my thoughts. I know very little about Stratton, except that Mr. Nobody, Sufjan Stevens, made an appearance on his first album, What The Night Said , which garnered much critical praise. His voice is eerily reminiscent of Nick Drake's, as the raspy, bass-driven tone and soft, delicate music give way to much emotional evocation. The tunes float by on acoustic strumming and subtle, backing keys, with occasional flourishes of a horn and the like. I, [...]

Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors are playing a show up in NYC next week ( Monday Nov 9th) to be exact. Drew and his wife Ellie create wonderfully crafted songs. It is basically what I think Pete Yorn was wishing that Scarlett Johansson would've done with him but alas they are not all a love connection. That being said I know that Drew always puts on a good show so I encourage all my NYC readers to go out and support live music! Tell them I sent you and you will probably be recieved with open arms. [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , New Music , Exclusive Last month, Rufus Wainwright , who recently released the CD/DVD 'Live in Milwaukee,' took part in Gavin Friday 's 50th birthday celebration at Carnegie Hall. It was quite the extravagant affair and Wainwright found himself on stage at times with Scarlett Johansson (with whom he dueted), Courtney Love , U2 and more. Wainwright confesses to Spinner that being around that level of fame can mess you up a bit. "One does [...]

Who is Weezer's audience anymore? Back when they released Weezer (The Blue Album) and Pinkerton , they attracted a sort of indie power pop crowd which slowly changed to the 15-year-old suburban white kid crowd which slowly changed into the random assortment of people crowd and now here we are. The band's seventh studio album in 15 years is spastic, immature and confusing. I once knew a jazz musician and self-proclaimed music snob who loved Make Believe , but surely even he can't like the mess of Raditude , can he? Don't get [...]

Thanks Cannibal Cheerleader faithful for another year - here's to much more blood, guts, and rock 'n roll in the future. Now onto the madness... As a staunch defender of actors' ventures into the world of indie-rock Cannibal Cheerleader has proven to be an unapologetic apologist. We stand by our love of Scarlett Johansson's Anywhere I Lay My Head and all of her subsequent work with other artists as well. So when we began to read stories on Ryan Gosling's foray into the music realm, complete with articles [...]

This week's edition was not written by a Wolfman. He'll deny it, but… The Eight Legged Beast moves as one brain-twisted entity like a Group Mind flailing around in the dark until all is silent—terrified, befuddled, looped, and not alone in these sinister thoughts. Suddenly, a voice, a series of whispered voices, echo through the cavernous depths. A Wolfman jogs Loaded up ahead, a pied Piper has some worm-y legs, and a Ghost appears and disappears—run asunder by bad acid, or a sign near the cave entrance that reads: "Turn Back! Beware! This is the [...]
Just saw Where the Wild Things Are today. I think I'll have to see it again. Not because I loved it that much (though I did enjoy it), but because I think I might enjoy it more a second time. It dawned on me a couple hours later that it's almost more a dream than a story, and that I should watch it that way. Did you see it? What did you think? (artist - song - album + purchase link :: extra info) [...]
