Photos by Abi Reimold | AbiReimold.22slides.com It was a full house at Union Transfer on Saturday night as Philadelphia welcomed home Kurt Vile & The Violators for the last show of their U.S. tour. With strong openers and a career-spanning set list from the hometown hero, the night was jam-packed with stellar performances and a lot of love. There’s an image of a couch and a heart on Vile’s now infamous Fishtown mural that reprises the line “There’s a place in my heart for all of my friends” from [...]

With a big hometown gig coming up this weekend featuring his backing band The Violators, Philadelphia's Kurt Vile went acoustic for a subdued upstairs set for the Non-COMM crowd. It was a rare chance to see Vile unadorned, his songs in their barest essence, both the expansive pieces from his new Wakin' On a Pretty Daze ("Goldtone," the title track) as well as older numbers like "Baby's Arms" and "Peeping Tomboy." Check out photos from Vile's set in the gallery above, read the setlist below and listen to the performance in its entirety here [...]

Lately, I've been freaking out about losing my hair. I keep looking up photos of Christian Slater or Jack Nicholson or Jerry Seinfeld and try to ease my fears by seeing how they've fared over the years. The truth? Not so well. So, you could imagine my bitter jealousy and rage last night when I watched the shaggy-haired Kurt Vile and his equally shaggy-haired Violators play for close to two shaggy hours at Chicago's shaggy Lincoln Hall. That's a lot of shaggy, but also a lot of time to stare and think about hair. [...]

Kurt Vile took the stage Tuesday night at the jam-packed Echoplex looking as if he just walked out of his "Never Run Away" video — maybe his all-white persona is here to stay. As he did at Coachella , Vile delivered his songs from beneath his voluminous hair, keeping it low-key and letting the music, rather than the guitarist himself, connect with the audience. His backing band the Violators ebbed on and off the stage throughout the night, giving Vile a chance to also show off some of his acoustic versions of his hits. When left [...]

The final FLIGHT FACILITIES Triple J Decade Mix (2002-2012) is the perfect hour of music for anyone currently aged in their early 20s to mid 30s who have been festival and club addicts sometime over the past 10 years or so. It allows us to reflect on some of the best times we’ve had in our lives involving the music we love, our friends (old and new) as well as particular tracks which have shaped who we are today. It’s easy to see why FLIGHT [...]

This week Australian duo Flight Facilities dropped their last installment of "triple j Mix Up Exclusives." This time we're going to listen to a bunch of epic modern classics released between 2002-2012. This one might be our favorite mix of all. Maybe because we're more familiarized with these tracks, and it has being played on repeat for the last couple days. Read below what Flight Facilities have to say about this mix, and just in case you haven't already, download the previous mixes,. Enjoy...! Flight Facilites says: "This is the final installment [...]

This is the final installment of the decade mixes. But this time it's a little bit different. This is the decade that turned us into what we are now. This mix is effectively our condensed dance music bible (believe it or not, there are lots of tunes we couldn't fit in). The mix is done in the same style in which we remember our clubbing experiences. Most notably, The Bang Gang parties every Friday night in Sydney. Those guys were a HUGE part of why we became DJ's in the first [...]

Flight Facilities shared the last mixtapes of their series for the Australian radio Triple J, for the period 2002 to 2012! They describe this mix as a little bit different from the previous ones, as it is "the decade that turned them into what they are now", and call it their dance music bible. Actually, it could become mine too, as it is also the period during which I began to listen to a lot of music, and most of these songs are classics to me. I'm sure it will be the same for many of you! [...]

K.Flay , the silk-tongued tomboy hottie who might be supplanting Amanda Blank as the number one white-girl rapper in my pouty little heart, dropped her West Ghost mixtape in February and followed it with "Hail Mary," a sex-static electro track that features Detroit wildman Danny Brown absolutely wrecking the beat. Against the buzzy, stuttering background, K.Flay slinks through her rap game and brings her best Bat For Lashes impression on the numb and confessional chorus - but the real star here is Mr. Brown, who spits his verse with characteristic [...]
Kasper Bjørke : “ To me, remixing is about honouring the original composition by deconstructing it and adding new ideas from my own sound universe, and in that sense create something entirely new.“ La semana pasada entrevistábamos al danés de Kasper Bjørke, y hoy publica un doble álbum compilado de las remezclas que este gran productor ha realizado él para otros productores y otros productores han realizado para sus composiciones durante los años 2007 y 2013 en el sello hfn Music , una magnifica compilación de 12 remezclas de sus [...]

It's International Women's Day, and International Woman's Month: important markers of how far we've come in our ongoing struggle towards true gender equality, and important reminders that exploring history through the lens of the other is a key component of our ongoing growth as a humanity. But the very fact of International Women's Day is also an indicator of just how deeply we still suffer, and how much we still need to pause, thoughtfully, in order to explore the hidden and not-so-silent assumptions which keep us from being who we should be. And so, as [...]
Merchandise have released a new song called "Who Are You?" which will appear on their upcoming album Totale Nite which comes out April 2nd on Night-People Records . The band seem to have let in new americana elements into their sound with the addition of harmonicas and stomped-out drumming. Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3 (producer of Panda Bear's Tomboy) mastered the album. Here's "Anxiety's Door" a track we already heard from the album. Listen to "Who Are You?" below.

Last week El Perro Del Mar released her chilling 3rd single “I Was A Boy” & this morning a music video, a live take of the song directed by Swedish directors Belle & Light. The filmmaking duo who pride themselves on finding innovative ways of capturing “the live moment” place Sarah Assbring (otherwise known as El Perro Del Mar) against a stark background, letting her lyrics + delivery fill the spotlight. Of the poignant song, Sarah shares, “As a kid I was a tomboy for a long time. It didn’t really occur [...]
