Today Consequence of Sound has divulged that Muse are more than likely slated to be one of the headliners of the yearly festival when it goes down April 16-18 in Indio, California. Wednesday night was my third MTVU Woodie Awards show at Roseland Ballroom and one of the most fun! We had a perfect spot near the artist lounge, enjoying a DJ set by Diplo and catching performances by Death Cab for Cutie , Passion Pit , Matt & Kim , The Dead Weather and more. Colorado's Monolith Festival is in trouble. Organizers of the three-year-old event, plagued the past two years by fractious Rocky Mountain weather, told fans in an e-mail "the future of the festival is very grim," and that they have "been unable to secure any options" that dig the fest out of its financial hole. The Fresh Air tour hit the Windy City last night, as Toki Wright, BK One, Evidence, and Brother Ali all performed at the Metro. Evidence took the stage right before Ali and warmed the crowd up just right. His set included songs from The Weatherman LP, The Layover EP, as well as a medley of Dilated Peoples' material. MTV recently talked to Jack White about his upcoming projects. "I've got like five things on my plate right now, it's a big plate," says White. White has recently recorded sessions with '50s rockabilly pioneer Wanda Jackson, and evidently they're "wild." If you remember, White also collaborated with country legend Loretta Lynn for her album, Van Lear Rose , back in 2004. This has been a week of medical appointments, all follow-ups or scheduled maintenance. I begrudge the time. I know the appointments are necessary to make sure all my parts continue to function, but I hate appointments, the scheduling of time. My day should be leisurely, a chair on the beach with an umbrella drink in my hand sort of day. It is sweat shirt weather: warm, sunny and lovely.
