Arms and Sleepers: Matador Trip-hop duo, Arms and Sleepers have produced a prolific amount of material for only three years of activity. After a touring schedule that brought them to Europe, the group decided to focus on a new proper full length. The result is Matador , released by Fake Chapter Records. To produce the record, the duo teamed up with a plethora of musicians including Tom Brosseau , Shelley Short , Ben Shepard and Catherine Worsham of Uzi and Ari , Philip Jamieson of Caspian , and Mona Elliot of [...]

Rachel Whiteread - Study (2005) My desk is made of slippery granite, elbows of 90 degree angles, and feet of concrete. I sit here sometimes, in the perfect silence, and empty sheets of paper with an eraser. Whole novels in fact. I find the more words I take out, the more I'm able to say. I sit here, today, to complete 30 pages of narrative. And I accomplish the task with one paragraph. At the top of the page I write: I WANT TO DO SOMETHING [...]

This is an ever changing and (hopefully) expanding list of some of the songs I have mentioned before in this blog or simply stuff I have found somewhere on the web that I find interesting, but have no time to write about. All files have been found somewhere in cyberspace (and NONE of them have uploaded by me, so I cannot help you with any requests you might have - just keep returning and something new might pop up), so they will be available until the artists, record labels, fans, whatever decide to remove them. Thanks to a few readers, [...]
Arms and Sleepers, the ambient-electro Boston duo consisting of Max Lewis and Mizra Ramic, are unveiling their new album, Matador, on Wednesday at the Middle East upstairs. The band started out in 2006, and Matador will be their 8th release to date. They were featured in The Boston Phoenix Fall Arts preview as a local band to keep an eye out for, and for good reason. Their new album is the perfect mix of trippy and relaxing, the kind of music you need to listen to on a rainy day with the outside world washing away. Lewis [...]
Bio: Arms and Sleepers is an electronic duo of comprised of Max Lewis and Mirza Ramic. Formed in 2006, they have produced multiple albums, EPs and hand-made releases, most notably the Bliss Was It In That Dawn To Be Alive EP (Fake Chapter, 2006) I was immediately attached to the delicate melodies of Arms and Sleepers as I was streaming their new album Matador off their website. The duo is all about the subtleties in their music. From the sprinkles of electronic glitches across Twentynine Palms to the slow and mellow acoustic guitar [...]

Kill Hannah: Wake Up the Sleepers Wake Up the Sleepers was released September 29th through Original Signal Records. Its my first time listening to Kill Hannah and they are best described as an Electronic Rock band. Many of the album's songs have a dance feel to them all ready, and I can see a dj or producer easily turning them into dance remixes. The album opens up with the track "Radio". At first I thought it was a cover of Kim Wilde's "Kids in America". The first few lines of the song mirror the way [...]
Even though Arms and Sleepers' gorgeously mesmerizing sophomore album, "Matador", won't officially be available until mid-November here in North America, anyone fortunate enough to catch them on a string of dates this month will be able to grab one straight from the source. The first opportunity to do so comes this Wednesday, when the duo (namely Boston's Max Lewis and Portland, ME's Mirza Ramic
by Black Bubblegum Caspian Quiet. Crescendo. Shimmering guitar. Crunch and thunder. Decrescendo. Sounds like a simple formula for a post-rock band, but you'd be surprised at how many get it wrong. Caspian , a Massachusetts post-rock crew, knows that "epic" doesnt have to mean an album of five 16+ minute songs, and the crew have the melodies to prove it. The band recently dropped their new album Tertia on The [...]

The Holy Mountain (presumably named after the surrealist epic) is an "art space" next to The Victory Lounge along Eastlake, and it fucking rocks. To start, colorful robots and wacko geometry adorn the walls, giving the whole space a carnival atmosphere. It's a very relaxed space; you can smoke, and tallies of PBR can be had for a mere $2. The atmosphere is great for hanging out, but don't expect the bands to play any earlier than eleven o'clock, because the scheduling is also relaxed. Past Lives, last Friday's headliner, [...]

Hope you all had fun last night.
