I dunno, what do you think? Is it tacky for Sub Pop owner Bruce Pavitt to have his wife selling the test pressing for the new Nirvana Bleach reissue on Ebay? Before it's even come out? Seems like if you were the label owner, you could make say 100 test pressings and make a lot of money selling them... hmmm. Regardless, Jyoti Pavitt is doing just that right now on Ebay . Closing in 20 minutes and already past a grand... for new vinyl that we don't yet know is very rare. Update: It actually [...]

Nirvana: In Utero (1993) Adam: I was 12 years old and my family was on vacation in Florida when I saw the news reports on TV in our hotel saying that the singer from a band I was vaguely familiar with had killed himself. I was just beginning to be interested in rock music in 1994, and after Kurt Cobain's suicide, I wasn't allowed to own any Nirvana albums. I had to get my Nirvana fix [...]

When a band grows beyond the confines of its hometown scene to national prominence, it can make for a disorienting experience for the fans that were there from the beginning. The urge to proudly announce to the world that you were into them before they were cool vies, almost inevitably, with indignation for what fame (money/record label/Yoko Ono) has done to the band. Seek out those in your community who remember seeing Nirvana play house parties—they're out there—and they're likely to tell you that everything after Bleach was bullshit, opinion of pretty much the rest of civilization notwithstanding. [...]

I am so grossed out just by typing that title that I don't even know where to begin. Apparently someone thought that it wasn't bad enough that she was actually sexing up Jon Gosselin , that they decided to commemorate the occasion with a video. The source is also claiming that he's seen Jon hoovering in the coke like he was a vacuum. This ought to play well for the court in his case against TLC . Kate's [...]

It's that time of the week again, where we get to see who's on the chopping block for "Dancing With The Stars". It was just announced that the first couple are safe to go on are Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough . I guess their futuristic Paso Doble really nailed it for them. Michael Buble took the stage to perform and it wasn't his greatest performance, but at least he's still hot. [...]
In 1989, Nirvana released its debut recording, Bleach , an album that captured the band in its formative stage as Kurt Cobain found his voice as a songwriter...

Editor's note: Excluusive meeting photo may or may not be Photoshopped. POP NEWS ALERT: PUT AWAY WHATEVER YOU'RE EATING AND SHUT THE FUCK UP. MuuMuse special correspondent David has JUST RAN INTO Rachel Come and Get It Stevens at Cuvee on Robertson in Los Angeles. At the time, "She was wearing a long black dress, flats, hair longer than her shoulders and blown out straight...sunglasses in hand, with a bleach blond friend/assistant girl." After gushing profusely about [...]

This week Drake gets nostalgic with a couple of releases from hometown heroes Nirvana , and dismisses the Oscar Wilde inspired solo project from Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas . There's a couple gift choices from the archives of Nirvana, soundtracks from Fantastic Mr Fox , Glee , NCIS and Aqua Teen Hunger Force -- which is actually a X-mas album, and my fave of the bunch. Of the few new releases, there's ones from Julian Casablancas, Weezer, Molina & Johnson and Girls in Trouble. Playlist: [...]

Starting with Nevermind , Kurt Cobain intentionally simplified his compositions in order to emphasize their pop components. Less song-focused than later Nirvana works, Bleach acts as an interesting showcase of the band's musical chops. It's amazing to note that it's now been 20 years since Nirvana released its first album. It only seems like yesterday that the grunge group emerged from the American indie scene to knock Michael Jackson off the top of the Billboard album charts, in the process bringing mass acceptance to the alternative rock genre and underground music in general. Despite this [...]
