So I'm going to see Bruce Springsteen tonight for the 1st time ever. I'm not a BOSS super-fan by any means, but I am hoping this show will propel me face first into his catalogue. I've already been enjoying quite a bit of it leading up to tonight's show, specifically Darnkess on the Edge of Town . A lot of people speak of his live shows as if it's a pivotal moment in their musical life (like going to mecca or something), so i guess we will just have to see. I'm trying not to expect a ton and [...]

Here's some fantastic news from Vinyl Vintage News : Rolling Stone talked with Bruce Springsteen's manager, Jon Landau, to find out what the Boss does after two years on the road. First up is a deluxe box set of the 1977 album Darkness on the Edge of Town. Much like the Born to Run box from 2005, the Darkness box will include a remastered version of the album, a documentary on the making of the LP and live footage from the 1978 tour that supported the album. [...]

The Gaslight Anthem | "The '59 Sound" | 2008 From its Born to Run opening riff to its down-and-out, working man lyrics (including repeated lines), the title track to The Gaslight Anthem's second outing is the best pure rock song of the Aughts. [Maybe I'm slightly biased. It is, as of the time of this writing, the second-most played song on my last.fm account.] To give you an idea of just how Springsteen-esque this song is (never mind the fact that the band's from Jersey), simply notice that singer/guitarist Brian Fallon begins [...]
As you may have heard, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band are going on a hiatus . This of course does not mean Bruce Springsteen, the individual, will be. So while 2010 might not prove to be as busy as 2009, the legendary New Jersey native is already eying his next endeavors, ones which will include a few new releases and one potentially epic collaboration. First, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone , Springsteen's longtime manager, Jon Landau, confirmed that 2010 will see the release of the [...]
Como The Stooges y MC5". [...]
Bruce Springsteen. The Boss. The musician who single-handedly put New Jersey on the map in terms of music. He's responsible for some of the most critically acclaimed albums throughout the history of rock. The most famous of these albums arguably is 1975's Born to Run . Yet, despite the fame of this record, I've never any songs from it. Alright, maybe that's a slight exaggeration. I'm pretty sure I've heard all of "Born to Run" and parts of other well-known tracks, like "Thunder Road" and [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , UK The Sunday night headlining gig at this summer's Glastonbury Festival by reformed Britpop godheads Blur has been declared the Best Headline Performance of 2009 at this year's UK Festival Awards. And, adding a cherry to the band's year, singer Damon Albarn (pictured) also bagged the Festival Fitty gong at the awards ceremony which was held at the O2 in London yesterday (Nov. 19). Blur's headline slot topped what many festival-goers considered to [...]

It's never easy to map out an entire decade in music. So, in constructing the "Decade in Music" interactive timeline , we sought to shape it with some of the bigger tent-pole trends, news (Elton John performing with Eminem) and groundbreaking changes in the industry, business and technology (Napster, the iPod). We also wanted to highlight albums (Britney Spears, Danger Mouse, Radiohead) that took a snapshot of the era, as well as deaths (Ray Charles, Johnny Cash) that affected everyone. And, of course, we wanted to include the occasional "wardrobe malfunction" controversy or bizarre curiosity ("Trapped in the Closet") [...]

As bootlegs go, the tour that supported Bruce's Darkness on the Edge of Town has to be my favorite (followed closely by The River ). My favorite show? Without question, it's July 7th, 1978 at the Roxy - a small club show in L.A. The quality is perfect, the intensity unmatched. In fact, let me play it now.... *click click* ..... okay, that's better. So by popular demand, here's the recent Darkness show at the Spectrum in Philly. Can you believe we're down to only two shows left on [...]
Pop your popcorn and grab your reading glasses. We're going to be here for awhile...
Check out the slideshow for more photos. The Spin can now confirm definitively: Bruce Springsteen is real. We know. We touched him. Five songs into last night's monster performance at the Somm... Continue reading "Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Sommet Center, 11/18/09" >
A growing list of bands unpopular with critics, but genre-defining nevertheless, is impatiently awaiting their admittance into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As the years progress, the process of getting into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is beginning to look a lot like the process of earning a letter for a high school letter jacket: The superstars (Bruce Springsteen, Prince, Aerosmith) are awarded just for showing up, as are the academic overachievers who are still social enough to get a seat on student council (U2, The Police, Talking Heads). However, the nerds who create the science...

The Times have raised something of a stink recently by announcing that they are going to start charging for the online content of their newspaper. This isn't new, exactly, because a lot of newspapers started out that way on the web, but quickly dropped all these clumsy logins and memberships and payment schemes because in the face of free and unlimited services like the Guardian and the BBC they quickly realised that they were losing out massively in the scramble for eyeballs, which is the one criterion everyone on the internet seems to agree is the key to influence, importance [...]

We kill a lot of time around these parts partaking in the seedy exposed underbelly of Portland's finest strip clubs. That said, there is no better way to express our deep moral depravity than a week-long series of songs dedicated to such businesses. So every day this week we will post a song in tribute to Portland's nudiest of nude revues. There are far too many "Mary" songs to dedicate to the local institution that is Mary's Club , but it would be hard not to include Bruce Springsteen's "Mary Queen Of [...]

From 1976, and their epochal debut album, please enjoy Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes with perhaps the best loved version of Bruce Springsteen 's at the time widely bootlegged "The Fever." And from some months earlier, here's perhaps the least well known cover of the same song, by Allan Rich . As in son of Charlie Rich . Springsteen's version of this, which wasn't officially released [...]
Bruce Springsteen and Chipotle come to town within a week of each other. Holy hell, how the gods have smiled upon Nashville as of late. While the 45-minute wait to get a goddamn burrito tells me... Continue reading "Bruce Springsteen at Sommet Center TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!! " >

Marissa Nadler performed a wide variety of tunes tonight at Schubas . Accompanied by Carter Tanton , of the band Tulsa , on a few tunes, I was surprised that they only played two tunes off the new release, Little Hells , out via Kemado . I guess it doesn't too matter because all of her tunes are hauntingly beautiful. Marissa , apologetic for the lack of stage banter, had confessed early on that she's terribly shy. Again, not a big [...]
This kind of thing just leaves me speechless: Bruce Springsteen reportedly greeted his Detroit-area audience Friday (11/13) night with a resounding "Hello, Ohio!" Oops. If I can imagine myself there for just a moment, I think I'd probably have the urge to just get up and leave the show immediately. This is the stuff that Spinal Tap dreams are made of... A little while back, a favorite artist of ours Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson made his way to town and we had the chance to ask him a few questions about his music. Not much is known about the up and coming artist so we hope you find this interview to be informative. Or at least a good read... Follow the jump for our full interview. From: New Jersey, US Sounds like: Saves The Day, Taking Back Sunday, Far Website: www.MySpace.com/LastDaysOfEmpi re Thrash Hits verdict: There seems to be an awful lot going on in New Jersey right now - not only did we stumble across the hardcore rock'n'roll of Chambers , but now we can also add the post-hardcore soundscapes of Last Days of Empire to our 2009 discovery-list. We pinned down LDoE vocalist/guitarist, Michael Depho, to fill us in. -- How did you [...]
