On December 23rd, the Washington D.C. area received 16 inches of snow, making it the sixth largest snow storm the area had seen in recorded history. Shortly thereafter, I escaped to my home country of South Africa, where summer reigned supreme. I once asked a buddy for a restaurant recommendation in Florence, Italy. He emailed back the name of a place with a comment about their truffles, saying "they are earthy and divine." Animal Collective's 'My Girls' is one of the biggest songs of last year and one of the many few 'indie' productions that crossed that border and jumped into many sets of big DJ's.
