There's nothing more rewarding to me than sharing great, new music. And that was what Superfraiche Pop Night was all about last night - introducing people to exciting new pop acts who are both sweet & crunchy. Artists that have an edge and bring compelling new pop to the table. Last night's Superfraiche (see a write up in OUT ) was everything I hoped it would it be. I want to thanks Brad Walsh, Reni Lane, DJ Josh Madden, Sam Taylor, Menya and Dangerous Muse for coming out to play in support of War Child.p [...]
by alex terrier Guitarist Greg Diamond was born in NYC in 1977 and started studying the piano with his father. After learning the violin Diamond picked up the guitar at the age of thirteen while living in Bogota Columbia. That pretty much shows the breadth of Greg's musical and cultural world! Of course he speaks English and Spanish, but for some reason he also speaks perfect French. [...]

○○○○● WHERE other reality TV singers' careers have stuttered, original Pop Idol Will Young has proved to be Mr Consistency. And this chronological collection, The Hits , which spans the singer's four studio efforts plus two new tracks, shows exactly why Young continues to appeal - even if he's not idolised in quite the way he was back in 2002. Yes, there are the drivelly ballads, such as Evergreen and Anything Is Possible , as well as the throwaway pop numbers, such as Switch It On . But the best showcases [...]
"Reamonn , one of Europe's biggest selling artists, continue their UK conquest as they are now confirmed to support Britain's best-loved rockers Status Quo on their national tour throughout November 2009. This special guest slot for Reamonn confirms their status as one of the most uniquely individual bands in Europe. Their music has a wide-ranging appeal that has seen them support A-ha, collaborate with Nelly Furtado and Lucie Silvas and perform for Barack Obama. At a recent London showcase, they were even seen by Peter Andre and Europe's Joey [...]

I admit. I'm pretty geeky when it comes to Robbie Williams . Ok, ok, so pretty much everyone agrees his last album, Rudebox, sucked bad – but come on, remember Feel? Come Undone? Millennium? She's the One? It's undeniable Mr. Williams has produced some incredibly awesome numbers other than Angels over the last few years – so surely we can forgive him for that momentary "rudebox! do the rudebox" blip? Well, I suppose he needs to begin by reassuring us all with his latest album, Reality Killed the Video Star – the musical child spawned [...]

B efore we go on with the countdown, let's take a moment to check out the 10 songs that almost made it (in chronological-alphabetical order, by artist). They may be bubbling under at Nos. 101 to 110, but they are all worth checking out. Artful Dodger Ft. Robbie Craig & Craid David "Woman Trouble" (2000) Aaliyah Ft. Timbaland "We Need A Resolution" (2001) Basement Jaxx "Where's Your Head At?" (2001) Bilal "Love It" (2001) Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions "Suzanne" (2001) Pete Yorn [...]

Original article at Consequence Of Sound This Is It , both as a soundtrack and a documentary, exists for a number of reasons. On one level, it's an attempt to focus and draw attention to what Michael Jackson lived for (music), and not what he did (scandal). On a more superficial level, this is Sony milking his legacy. Any true MJ fan will already own 90% of the songs that make up this two-disc set. It is, however, that 10% which justifies this album's existence. Early estimates suggest hundreds [...]

(Editor's note: today's interview comes to us with permission from Cleveland Bachelor , where the Q&A was originally posted.) I'm sick as a dog today, but when the opportunity came to have a brief Q&A chat with the frontman of one of the most innovative indie rock bands making music these days, I took it. It wasn't the most graceful of phoners, between me hacking up a lung every couple minutes and my interview subject, Tim Rutili of the stellar Chicago post-rock band Califone , racing about town getting ready to leave for a seventeen-date tour, [...]

In 1990, U2 went to Germany just before the Berlin Wall came down and reunification occurred to begin recording their next album, the result of which would be my favorite album ever, Achtung Baby . They recorded in Berlin's Hansa Ton Studio where David Bowie worked with Brian Eno to create Low, Heroes, and Lodger . U2 went into the studio with Daniel Lanois and Flood with very little material and just tried to create songs while jamming around some song sketches and parts. Then the tapes got stolen and later bootlegged all around the world, after they [...]

Before the Walkmen were the Walkmen, they were Jonathan Fire*Eater; before the scorching screams of Hamilton Leithauser's vocals, there were the frenzied slurs of Stewart Lupton's. A lightning bolt of musical tenacity and originality, Jonathan Fire*Eater took the unusual path of shunning mainstream success, lasting only a year into their contract with Geffen Records before disbanding. But they live on nevertheless—in their recordings, the sounds of the Walkmen and Lupton's Child Ballads. Jonathan Fire*Eater - "Give Me Daughters" (from Tremble Under Boom Lights ) The Walkmen - "We've Been [...]

Today was a rather long and cruel one. It was very hard to focus on work, though I did complete several tasks that needed to be done. Concentration has not been easy for the past few days. In fact, it became a lot harder yesterday after my long day of solo travel down to San Diego for drinking. To be honest, I was starting to feel hungover by 10:00pm last night. Shit, I wound up playing poker with Landon and Nate when I got home and I was making a lot of brainless decisions. I just missed the final table [...]

Most Likely To: linger in 1993. No Baggage is an optimistic title for a disc for someone like Dolores O'Riordan. In the ranks of humankind, who has more baggage than a one-time virtual household name whose time in the spotlight has long passed? Fame of any kind is a fickle bitch, but no breed of it can be crueler than the pop music strain, where artists who think they're in it for the long haul are routinely introduced to the reality that they're a flavor of the month. A [...]
