Wordsmith-You_Never_Know__Feat _Kontact_BK_Lef_Siyam_Laelo_Ho od_LX_RhymeZwell_Whitefolkz_Re ub_Fred_Knuxx_Philly_Swain__Ja kk_Frost This is the newest cut from his mixtape out Dec. 7th called Overdue & Underrated. I think it is safe to say that this is the longest title I have ever had to type copy and paste on the site but that's what you get on this Wu-Tang-esque song with millions of features. The song surprisingly flows [...]

Live: KISS and Buckcherry at the Rose Garden, 11.17.09 It's interesting to think about the pre-show rituals for a KISS concert in 2009. There's less beer swilling and doobie smoking in the parking lot, and a lot more face-painting with the fam before packing into the mini-van to head down to the arena. I was standing in front of the stage with four other (real) photographers right before the show. I stared out into the large crowd ... well, not just any crowd-the KISS Army! KISS Nation! Which is sort [...]

Forever keeping listeners on their proverbial toes, the hugely anticipated Darkstar cut 'Aidy's Girl Is A Computer' comes backed with a remarkably deep remix from Detroit house prodigy Kyle Hall. If you've not come across 'Aidy's Girl...' by now, you probably need to stay in a bit more and check the internet, innit!? Darkstar's finest moment has become a bit of an anthem over the last 12 months or so, becoming a staple in the sets of Kode 9's favourite DJ, Oneman, Kode himself and just about every other dubstep DJ with a copy to rinse. The track itself [...]

So the pretty lil event site Winter is the New Summer that Devin and I have been working on has officially launched in full! Whoo! Let's have a 750ml salute to that! We did a soft launch in October, then last week we introduced the poster concept and from this week on until the end of winter we will have a different member of the Portland scene acting as a Poster Boy or Poster Girl, holding up our event picks of the week, this week being Rocky formerly of the Hush and currently of [...]

ALBUM REVIEW: Rihanna - Rated R words: Jamie Milton - originally scribed for MusicOMH The buzz around decade-defining hit Umbrella has petered out and it's due time that post-assault, a hardened Rihanna comes out fighting in dominatrix attire and an added aura of vulnerability. Hundreds of producers and songwriters (most notably Chase and Status) have worked with the Barbados-born superstar to make her most adult work to date in 'Rated R'. There has been a [...]

Great news from that windy island north of Europe! Finally the Brits have made something to make up for their terrible football (apart from West Ham United of course). Two of our favourite British producers are making their long-awaited début releases this autumn. Fear of Tigers is releasing his album "Cossus-Snufsigalonica" as a free download on December 1 on his Facebook page since all record labels are busy barfing out "Absolute Idol Hits 999" or whatever... We've already posted "The Adventures of Pippi Longstrump" eons ago , but why don't you upgrade it [...]

Morning's debut was released by Vault in 1970. Thankfully, Wounded Bird Records has reissued this long lost album for the first time on cd. Morning is full of spectacular performances, making it one of the mandatory LPs in the rural-rock/American roots/country-rock field. While CSNY, Poco , and Band influences are easy to spot this record is by no means derivative. The band had its roots in several interesting 60s pop/garage bands (Wind and Moorpark Intersection) who happened to release a few decent 45s. The debut lineup looks something like this: Barry Brown (guitar/drums/vocals), Jim Hobson (piano/organ/vocals), Jay Lewis [...]
There's a good chance many of you reading this have not heard of Ghettosocks . That's fine, I mean, after all, that's what we're here for, to try and remedy that situation. But I will says this: if you like classic hip hop (more specifically hip hop & hip hop culture from the early to mid nineties), if you do hear a Ghettosocks album, I'd be willing to bet my leather Africa medallion that you're going to like it. In fact, we should make the Grand Wizard Ghettosocks required listening for any fan of Golden Age [...]

This year we were asked to help man a stage at the Westheimer Block Party and we were thrilled. The festival gives rise to Houston's artists every year without discrimination against musical genre or experience. A fresh new band that makes an effort to gets there start has the opportunity afforded to them to show new fans whose boss, regardless of schedule or conflict. Nosaprise played early, but he didn't act like it. Most people would have asked if they could play a [...]

Steven "Pav" Pavlovic is founder and director of international record label Modular, which represents many of the names in the music industry right now: The Presets, Cut Copy, Ladyhawke and Van She, to name a few. What does your company do? Anything and everything with any kind of questionable link to good music. What is your background in music/business? I started out managing bands, then booking local venues around Sydney and then moved into promoting tours for both local and international bands, some of which [...]

click image to view artist in itunes Sounds like: Starfucker, Cut Copy, MGMT, Metronomy, Thieves like us What's so good? It's easy to be incredulous for the first minute of Butterfly Bones ' new EP, but once singer Reese Donahue delivers the opening line -"we know we're wrong/and we're gonna get it away with it"-it's hard not to be sold. With Pretty Feelings , this Bay Area quartet delivers their unapologetic pop with one hand on the laptop [...]

Three weeks ago I posted a list of my 50 favorite albums of the past decade. You can catch up with that here , here , here , here , and here , if you'd like. While drafting the list I found that I rediscovered plenty of albums that were and are still worthy of more attention, even though they ultimately weren't included on the finished product. It was extremely difficult to cut many of them, especially those made by lesser-known artists. So starting last week, continuing today, and for the next 2 Mondays I'll [...]
Sun drenched French girls wont relate to frozen girls from northern states but they might elate when they hear that Zdar's producing The Rapture of New York State. Whoo! Alright, lets fall apart and...forget all about my shitty attempts at rhyme... So anyways, it looks like the new Rapture album is being produced by Cassius. Or at least half of; Philippe Zdar . Zdar told Pedestrian recently, "They came to me and said, 'we loved the Phoenix album and we want to do some new music...will you be able to [...]
