There's a couple things you'd expect from a solo album of a member of the Black Moth Super Rainbow: vocoder, funky drum beats , and woozy analog synths. On BMSR's The Seven Fields of Aphelion 's new album Periphery , you only get the last one. Closer in sound to Emeralds or Stellar OM Source, Periphery is full of gorgeous ambient synth music that would probably have sounded as natural in 1985 as it does in 2010. On tracks like "Sunburst Chemicals," "Lake Feet," and "Mountain Mary," The Seven Fields of Aphelion plays real live piano, [...]

Joseph Smith was either a prophet of God or a charlatan. He was considered both a man chosen by Jehovah as a modern-day oracle who would lead humanity back to the One True Church and bring about Gods Kingdom on earth, and a philandering con man who abused the trust of his gullible followers by taking a second-rate novel and using it as the basis for his cult of personality. He was a charismatic leader who upon receiving his first Revelation in 1832, managed to spread a new brand of Christianity around the world in just a few short years. [...]
If you've caught the Abramson Singers play in the last little while, you may have copped this from Leah directly (and she still has some CDs to sell at shows, I think), but if not, it's out today on iTunes, Zunior, and via White Whale (where it's only $5). I haven't seen Leah play solo or with a band in ages, and since I mostly stick to live stuff here, I don't really mention her all that often, but I still play her last record, Bedroom/City , at least once a week, and [...]

NEW VIDEO: DEAD MEADOW "THAT OLD TEMPLE"
From the forthcoming feature length film and soundtrack Three Kings featuring Dead Meadow. Directed by Artificial Army. Coming March 2010.
New music videos: RJD2, Warpaint, Animal Collective, Dead Meadow
Music videos make the world go 'round. Here are four brand new videos from a range of talent all up in EF's radar as of late. First up, RJD2 with a Thom Glunt, Jr.-directed video from the forthcoming album The Colossus . After that it's some slow motion goodness from the lovely ladies in L.A.'s Warpaint and then another brand new Animal Collective video that's three days old; meaning, it might as well be from 2002 and you've probably already seen it twice by now. Last up for us is a new video from Artifical Army for [...]
