Teaming up with Foggy Notions singer-songwriter Adrian Crowley has co-curated a festival of music & visuals drawing on the themes of community and kinship in the arts. The festival is HOMELIGHTS . It takes place over four nights, Friday 27th of November to Monday the 30th. The line-up is pretty special, made up of comrades and inspirations to Crowley; who has been recently signed to Delgado run Scottish label Chemical Underground . His first album with them (fifth in total) Season of the Sparks will be released later this month. [...]

The occassion also marks Crowley's new relationship with Scottish indie label Chemikal Underground, who will release his new album Season of the Sparks around the same time. Performances throughout the four days promise to be full of surprises, impromptu collaborations and surprise guests. Friday, November 27th (Upstairs [...]
For an item that houses money, identification, receipts and half eaten lollipops we really should take more care of our wallets. Mine literally looks like a piece of trash. The wallet prior was a velcro Rip Curl number I had since grade six. It housed two things - sand and five cent pieces. I was sad to see it go. Thankfully for sorry looking wallets everywhere Dosh have enlisted Kill Pixie, Jonathan Zawada, Stefan Marx and French to create wallet cum art pieces in their Wallets As Art series. If you respect your [...]

With "Guess Who's Not Coming to Dinner," Haunted House prove they aren't just another Minneapolis All-Star jam band. They are a formidable rock and roll unit lead fearlessly by Mike Watton. Band members and collaborators include, yet are not limited to Jon Davis (Ghostband), Adam Patterson (whitesand/badlands), Cole Claerhout (Dante & The Lobster), Martin Dosh (Andrew Bird), and Freddy Votel. (Skoal Kodiak) They are a unrivaled, rhythm-heavy rock orchestra. A piano-heavy Pixies or maximal Modest Mouse draw comparisons but don't nearly describe the fluency they share.. Here are some details about the release shows from Mike.. [...]

The Austin City Limits Music Festival celebrated its eighth anniversary this year, and it's gone beyond being Texas' little festival that could. It's now its own destination. All tickets to the three-day festival sold out earlier than they ever had before, and the lineup was one of its most diverse in its brief history. Tucked away in expansive Zilker Park in Austin, ACL usually feels like a musical marathon. Unlike other festivals that take place on remote locations where you have to camp or in the middle of cities where you can walk a few feet from the [...]

The Lake Harriet Bandshell hosted free music and a movie on one of the last nice days before the inevitable cold snap. People scattered the lawn and filled the benches, holding on tightly to one of the last warm nights, to enjoy the sounds of Dosh before the Terry Gilliam film Time Bandits . Accompanied by bassist / saxophonist Mike Lewis, Dosh filled the evening with layers of drum beats, loops, and an array of sounds beaten from the taterred, but delightlyfully painted, housing of an old Rhodes. Read on for a few photos from the [...]
For unsigned artists keen to have their music featured on the tellybox - whether it be TV shows or adverts - and thereby gain entrance to this site's hallowed Where Have I Heard That Song Before? category, Sentric Music have been useful people to hook up with for a while now. Why, they've secured spots on Lexus TV ads, episodes of Hollyoaks and - the Sincerity Rock holy grail - One Tree Hill for all manner of bands you haven't quite heard of yet. [...]
Dosh will play a set at the Lake Harriet Bandshell tomorrow at 5:30p.m. before a viewing of one of my favorite movies when I was growing up Time Bandits . The event is free so come enjoy one of the last nice weather weekends we will hopefully have!

What more could you ask for? A free Dosh show and a screening of a Terry Gilliam movie, all outdoors. Dosh informed us, each band picked 5 movies and he had selected all Gilliam features, Brazil, Monty Python, etc... Dosh - Um, Circles and Squares (MP3)

Kevin Westenberg Everyone was abuzz last week when a song that sounded too much like Radiohead to not be Radiohead began circulating online without any official comment from the band's camp. Naturally, everyone went batshit - they'd already released a new tune last week and recent interviews implied that they were tired of the conventional album release model and had some fresh ideas on how they'd release future recordings, so the idea that this was just the tip of a Radiohead-sized iceberg wasn't an unreasonable assumption. Adding [...]

Kevin Westenberg This has already been covered ad nauseum everywhere - I saw it mentioned in some washroom graffiti yesterday - but I think my music blogging license gets revoked or something if I don't report on it and anyways, it's quick and easy and allows me to spend the evening watching television.
