Tracklist: 1. Pete Doherty, "Last Of The English Roses" 2. [...]

"In This City" is one of the most enticing tracks on Enon's High Society . Featuring chugging percussion and spacey synths that flow smoothly beneath vocalist Toko Yasuda's sensual singing, it marked a significant change in Enon's musical direction from the darker, weirder Believo! . The video takes place in a futuristic, overly crowded city that most likely represents Tokyo run amok. With bright colors and cool animation: it is a visual feast. Enon - In This City (Remix by Deadverse)

My friends and I created a mixtape club a few years back with the idea that we'd meet, share mixtapes, listen to mixtapes, eat pizza and have a few beers together. For music obsessives like myself - it was not just a great way to hear new music, but an awesome way to spend the day. The first meeting was a success, so we kept it going - month after month for over a year - until for some reason we just stopped sometime early last year. Recently, we decided it was time to get the band [...]

Enon may be one of the most underrated bands of the past decade. Their 2000 debut, Believo! , was weird, unpredictable and smart. The official follow-up in 2002, High Society , although still unpredictable, saw the band reinvented with a new lineup and songs that ranged from garage rock to synth pop. This Single Serving is a rare recording of their cover of The Gun Club's track "Sex Beat." Enon - Sex Beat (The Gun Club Cover)

A Storm of Light Josh Graham is multitasking, and not in a chew gum and walk kind of way either. Graham first burst on the scene as the newest member of Bay Area titans Neurosis, handling the visual element which included live pieces and graphic design, eventually leading into the legendary "A Sun That Never Sets" companion DVD. On the heels of that well received DVD, Josh went on to direct music videos and design artwork for Dillinger Escape Plan, Enon, Jesu, Khann, Underoath, Saves The Day, [...]

Disclaimer: Years are fairly arbitrary time periods. The only thing that makes a decade is the human conditions' odometer fetish. Unfortunately, like you, I'm human as well and fall prey to these tendencies. I can't claim to know everything, I'm just an educated observer; and here are my educated observations. They are not perfect and neither you nor I will completely agree with them in a years time, but that is the fun of lists. This year was all about the Flaming Lips. I don't care how old I get, I will still sing along to [...]

(Backstory: For a while now, I have been writing, what I call Dead Friday, every Friday morning and sending it out to a growing distibution list. It serves as a little writing therapy for me, and The Butter Room has asked me to start posting them on Sunday as part of the Dead posts. I hope you like. They get a little personal sometimes. Welcome to my world.) Morning, Freaks!! Sorry for the long one today. I was introduced to the Grateful Dead during my Freshman year of college by two brothers, Matt and Gerry [...]
Hosted by a character named DJ Lance Rock, the series features a mix of live-action segments featuring cartoonish costumed characters--Muno (the red cyclops), Foofa (the pink flower bubble), Brobee (a little green monster), Toodee (the blue cat-dragon) and Plex (the magic yellow robot)--and many short animated sketches and musical numbers.[4] In its first two seasons, the show featured a wide variety of guests, including Jack Black, Leslie Hall, The Shins, The Aggrolites, Cornelius, Biz Markie, Shiny Toy Guns, Supernova, Mark Mothersbaugh, Rahzel, The Postmarks, Sugarland, Tony Hawk, The Roots, Low, Laila Ali, Elijah Wood, Mýa, The Salteens [...]
[ download ] One isn't likely to come across a rock quartet with a finer pedigree than Githead . Guitarist Colin Newman is largely responsible for the sound of the most enduring-and arguably most influential-post-punk acts of all time: Wire . His wife, frequent collaborator, and former Minimal Compact member Malka Spigel handles vocal duties. Her former bandmate from that Israeli post-punk outfit, Max Franken, lays down the drums, and the band is rounded out by Robin Rimbaud (aka Scanner ), who swaps his usual electronics rig for [...]

While rare shows are a dime a dozen at ATP, Caribou's Vibration Ensemble , which debuted at ATPNY earlier this month, was a particularly notable highlight of the weekend. Dan Snaith's newly formed orchestra, which included members of Enon, Junior Boys, Born Ruffians, Kieren Hebden of Four Tet, and Marshall Allen of the Sun Ra Arkestra, amongst many others, was utterly majestic if not completely mesmerizing. Fortunately for those looking to relive the experience, the fine folks at WFMU , who were broadcasting live from ATP, and their friends at the Free Music Archive have made [...]

Earlier this month, WFMU brought an all-star crew up to Kutsher's Country Club for the second annual NY installment of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival. For everyone who missed the live broadcast , we'll be archiving many of them for on-demand listening on WFMU's blog and Free Music Archive, starting this week. We've lined up a post a day from the likes of Deerhoof, Deerhunter, Atlas Sound, The Melvins, Grouper, Akron/Family, Black Dice, the Dirty Three (w/ Nick Cave!), and more surprises await. Let's start things off with the 16-person Caribou Vibration Ensemble, which featured [...]

Good work on debut The Oak and the Acorn , from New Jersey's Glad Hearts. Guests on this folk-rockish album included an extensive list of engineers, producers and mixers, such as Grammy Award winner Matt Shane (FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS), Chris Moore (TV ON THE RADIO, YEAH YEAH YEAHS, SCARLETT JOHANSSON), Michael White (TALKING HEADS, DAVID BYRNE, DAVID BOWIE) and John Schmersal (ENON, BRANIAC). Listen to female / male interplay on "Nothing If We're Not Moving" from The Oak and the Acorn . audio: Nothing If [...]

Frank Yang It's been almost a year since Caribou's Dan Snaith walked off the stage, giant cheque in hand, having been crowned the 2008 Polaris Music Prize winner for his stunning record Andorra . But since then, things have been largely silent in camp Caribou since then, as Snaith was presumably hard at work on the follow-up record. Then in May, word of a live show for the Fall. Not a tour, but the sort of special event that happens when Wayne Coyne [...]
