Trust has been picked up by Play/Rec and no, it's not the French thrash act that Anthrax covered. This band is a guitar/drums duo featuring ex-members from Up In Arms and they already have one 7" out and another on the way, but Play/Rec will handle their debut full-length, due out in early 2010. photos by Matthew Taplinger It's A Trap : What does the name "A Camp" actually refer to? Niclas Frisk: We just decided that we would go up to the woods and do some songs, do some drawings, bake some bread and record some music. At some point Nina said that we were having a camp in the woods. And at the same time we were shopping in a supermarket and saw this maple syrup with [...]

Now that the life and times of Oasis have ended, former frontman Liam Gallagher has begun plotting his next endeavor. As it turns out, these plans include a brand new studio album with a brand new band . Well, sort of. In a recent interview with MTV Italy (via NME ), Gallagher revealed that he and fellow ex-Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Zak Starkey ( basically, everyone except Noel ) will team up in December to begin work on a new album. However, as was the case [...]

If reports are correct ex band members Gem Archer and Andy Bell, as well as Chris Sharrock (drums) and Jay Darlington (keyboards), are on board with Liam. Apparently Andy will switch to guitar to help Gem take up the empty spot Noel Gallagher has left behind. The band is currently talking to some bass players to complete the group's lineup. According to Liam , the yet to be named band, already has 7 demos recorded. Share this: [...]

Based on that association do people approach Nana Grizol's music with certain expectations? If [...]

Frank Yang In leading up to Friday night's show at Lee's Palace, I'd wondered aloud as to why it had taken The Wooden Sky so long to play a proper hometown show, what with their latest record, the ex If I Don't Come Home You'll Know I'm Gone having come out all the way back in August. Walking into Lee's, I got my answer - they were building their sets. The stage was breathtakingly decorated with all manner of props and sculptures built of paperback [...]
First let me start off by saying that there should be a word limit to album titles, sometimes they get out of hand. There also needs to be some kind of truth in advertising thing as well, I mean, The Hearts We Broke On The Way To The Show sounds a wee bit pretentious doesn't it, never mind a bit wordy. But this is really apropos of nothing. The second thing I want to address is that second or two of foreboding you sometimes get when you look at something and think [...]

Filed under: News , Songs , Exclusive Brett Dennen initially garnered attention -- rapidly and organically -- back in 2004, when he came out of the gate with great folk songs that were deeply humanist, driven by emotion but laced with political undertones. His innocently disarming voice and awkward mannerisms didn't hurt either and his charm hasn't escaped his fellow singer-songwriters. In fact, in the past couple of years he's been joined by a single-file line of noteworthy accomplices: he's sung duets with Mandy Moore [...]

Mogwai etc., All Tomorrow's Parties, Camber Sands, April 2000 Alphabetical post-rock nostalgia your way comes: Arab Strap typical festival band, rolled out all the hits; sales of The Weekend Never Starts Round Here saw a spike the following week. Bardo Pond failed to live up to a rather high billing as stoner post-rock legends, were but reasonably spooky [...]

Amor y Guerra is a collection of Police & Thieves' three EP releases up to this point along with a few previously unreleased songs. The DC band features ex-members of Worn Thin and plays straightforward hardcore that's a little melodic without really being melodic at all. Not that there is anything wrong with that, right? I mean, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this while cleaning out my garage. So yeah, there's really no "singing" at all but the vocals aren't screamed either. They've also got some rock-and-roll undertones that are evident in the music [...]

The second installment of A Retrospective, in which I recap my favorite albums released from 2000 to 2008, this time: 2001. Wrought with turmoil and watching a life fall apart as so many others were having similar experiences but in a different manner; that was 2001 for you. The year I turned 21 (hence the wine bottle photo above). A year that lives in infamy. Young or old, we all seemed to grow up that year. Music, too seemed to progress in ways unthought, even before that fateful day. [...]
