Allah says that when the Trumpet is blown for the Resurrection, and the people rise from their graves, there will be no kinship among them that day, nor will they ask about one another, meaning that lineage will be of no avail on that Day, and a father will not ask about his son or care about him. And no friend will ask a friend about his condition, though they shall be made to see one another, meaning no relative will ask about another relative, even if he can see him and even [...]

Quick Blurbs about Friendly Rich, The Hoa-Hoa's & Krupke Friendly Rich & The Lollipop People - Pictures At An Exhibition To describe Friendly Rich Presents: Modest Mussgorsky's Pictures At An Exhibition as an eclectic piece of music is an incredible understatement. His personal reworking of the Russian composer's 1874 suite is as bizarre as it gets, sounding a little bit like the unique instrumental pairing of Frank Zappa and Pee Wee Herman . The project is ambitious [...]

It has been a little while since I busted out the last one of these, but ever since crafting the first special multi-EP review post, I've been catching and collecting a bunch of exciting EP releases by bands new and old. I have a bunch more of these posts in the pipeline, but for now, let's focus on what we have right here. Today's digest brings us releases from four bands, as geographically diverse as they are sonically. First up we have San Francisco's garage-popsters Collider, followed by Chicago-based psych pop outfit Netherfriends, Spring Tigers hailing from everyone's [...]

2009 has been quite a year for Morrissey . He's toured relentlessly, performing to sold-out audiences around the world. His 9th studio album, Years Of Refusal , saw Morrissey tie his highest US chart debut on the Billboard 200, and he's overseen upgraded and remastered versions of his '90s works Southpaw Grammar and Maladjusted . Crowning what is undoubtedly his most productive year since his solo career began in 1988, [...]

Swords compiles 18 select songs released as b-sides of Morrissey 's 13 hit singles from his last four albums, capping what is undoubtedly his most productive year since his solo career began in 1988. Morrissey is an artist who has always ensured his b-sides are of as outstanding quality as his singles and album tracks, and Swords features some of his finest material. His music is always powerful and adventurous, while the richness and expression of Morrissey's voice has made him one of [...]

Fans of the Mozzer have much to rejoice as a long-rumored b-sides album is coming to fruition. Swords , the follow-up to the stellar Years of Refusal , will be released in the UK on October 26th and November 3rd in the US and features eight live performances as well as the "subtly assembled and sequenced" orphans from the last few recordings. There is no question that this has been among the better years for Morrissey (due to the success of Refusal and the subsequent tour), and demand for his [...]

If you don't like the blues and ain't too particular about R&B in general, you might as well skip this whole mixtape. Period. End of story. Last week when we dropped Etta singing jazz, I knew we couldn't get away with not including some of her classic R&B material, of which there is, as we say here in the fertile crescent, "beaucoup," meaning a healthy bunch, a whole lot! So the first part of the mixtape is comprised of [...]

They say blood is thicker than water, but there must be something in the blood and water in some musical families. Sometimes the muse passes on from the parents to the kids, leaving a legacy of great songs that will keep many generations happy. Here's a look at 10 great father/son, mother/daughter artists. As Sly Stone sang, "It's a family affair." 1. Bob & Jakob Dylan To follow in the musical footsteps of Bob Dylan would be a daunting task for any son or daughter, but Jakob Dylan accepted the challenge [...]

Think Bonnaroo, but with corporate sponsorship and an Irish accent. As Bonaroo is to the latest generation of confused hippies, Oxegen lies in the hearts of the blitzed Irish populace. Set in the hills of picturesque County Kildare, Oxegen is the typical large-scale, three-day summer concert series and even snagged the coveted 'Yourope Award for Best European Festival' last year. Competitors Glastonbury, Roskilda and T in the Park were crushed, but they got over it. Boasting acts by Kings of Leon, the Killers, YYYs, and Blur, Oxegen 2009 is expected to pull in around [...]

Finest Dearest are coming back to the east coast! This is their first trip across the country since their first trip across the country in April '08. While they were in town I saw them play @ Trash and even though the show was somewhat sabotaged by a dreadful sound dude, they kicked ass. I usually try to avoid going to shows the night before Siren, but not this time. If you haven't been to Dead Herring yet, it's just some folks' apartment. Even though that may sound potentially disastrous, the sound there is actually not that bad.

Fabric's tossed us this great mix from L-Vis 1990 as a little taster to his gig on Friday 5th June as part of FabricLive. Looks like they've pulled in the nearest and dearest of UK's finest and freshest - Radio1 legend Rob Da Bank , Sinden , Radioclit , Toddla T , it's all sounding good - plus they've booked hands-down show must-have-of-the-year, Brighton's legendary beatboxer Beardyman , who just won best live act at Breakspoll 2009 . See it to believe it. I forsee a [...]

The Maccabees 'Wall Of Arms' (Fiction) Markus Dravs. Hmm. Markus Dravs worked with Arcade Fire. Markus Dravs worked with Coldplay . Markus Dravs worked with Wave Machines . Marcus Dravs is working with Mumford & Sons . Just who is this Markus Dravs and why is he escorting the latest productions from my dearest of bands? Well, whatever wondrous voodoo he's brandished on 'Neon', 'Viva', and 'Wave', 'Wall Of Arms' seems to be blessed with it too. You've still the squally guitars and Orlando warbling like he's [...]

Thursday @ BotH: Black Moth Super Rainbow, School of Seven Bells, Odd Nosdam (9pm, $12) As we mentioned earlier this week, BMSR released Eating Us (Graveface) on Tuesday, an album just as synth heavy and fun as albums past. The show is supported by School of Seven Bells , a likeminded electronic getup from Brooklyn whose Alpinisms (limited vinyl out now) has been commended by both the New York Times and Pitchfork, wow! Black Moth Super Rainbow - "Born on [...]

And Little Man & I are ensconced on the sofa watching The Wizard of [...]
