Ely Guerra proves once again that it is okay to take years in between albums as long as the wait merits the quality of the music. She is no longer signed on EMI, instead, she's releasing under Honey Company, her new (and probably improvised) record label. Lotofire is one of my favorite alternative albums ever and her jump into pop ( Sweet & Sour, Hot y Spicy ) was very pleasant too, so yeah, I can't wait for Hombre Invisible . And it's starting on the right foot as the first single titled "Stranger" is exquisite; it [...]

J. Tillman took the stage at the Middle East Upstairs for a late show on Sunday night. But then again, it was only 8pm in Seattle, the west-coast town that this drummer from Fleet Foxes calls home. The performance was a family affair, with J. Tillman's brother Zach opening as a solo act called Pearly Gates Music . Zach Tillman offered us a stripped-down version of his already sparse style: leaving behind all unnecessary instruments, he came to us as one man and a guitar crooning blues and covering Pavement's "Shoot [...]
The wait is over. After the infamous kiss between the two on the Soul Train Awards 2009 stage, Toni Braxton and her (maybe more than) label mate Trey Songz have premiered the video for their hot collaboration, on the track "Yesterday" . The song is the lead single from Miss Braxton comeback album, "Pulse" , due out on February 2, 2010. --- Cela faisait maintenant trois longues années que la plastique sculpturale de Toni Braxton ne s'était pas affichée dans un vidéo clip. Depuis le Mondial de Foot 2006 pour [...]

Live: KISS and Buckcherry at the Rose Garden, 11.17.09 It's interesting to think about the pre-show rituals for a KISS concert in 2009. There's less beer swilling and doobie smoking in the parking lot, and a lot more face-painting with the fam before packing into the mini-van to head down to the arena. I was standing in front of the stage with four other (real) photographers right before the show. I stared out into the large crowd ... well, not just any crowd-the KISS Army! KISS Nation! Which is sort [...]

Despite Paul Banks' active promotion of his impressive solo debut, Julian Plenti is...Skyscraper , the fourth Interpol album is still on track for release in early 2010. Drummer Sam Fogarino has even alluded to its close relationship to Interpol's darkly expansive 2002 debut, Turn on the Bright Lights , telling Paste Magazine, "In trying to move forward, there was an unspoken realization that you can't let go of your sonic-defining tag." An intriguing sentiment. While The Strokes argue over whether their new songs veer too far from the band's core sound, Interpol is retreating back [...]

By DL and Frank Phosphate FRIDAY Mary Anne Hobbs / Blixaboy / Pandai'a / Royal Highnuss /VJ S (eye) Plus Unified Minds /Gallery Cat/ MC Astro / Bodega Brothas (Outside) (Green Elephant): Pretty big catch for Dallas to have such a prominent figure of both Dubstep as well as the BBC here all the way from London. Hobbs played music by Wanz Dover's Blixaboy project on her influential show, which is what eventually led to this event, and it's good to see [...]

Here's a new single from Sia called "You've Changed" that features a pretty funky beat that definitely got my foot tapping. Good stuff for a friday...certainly nothing game changing here, but fun, which is Sia in a nutshell (at least based on what we saw when she toured with Zero 7). Apparently this is supposed to "be a taste of what's to come for sia in 20103. The song seems to be about a guy changing his wild playboy ways....thanks to her (of course). I will always have a soft [...]

As I said, Matthew Lindley & Troubadour Deluxe were the openers. If it falls on the opening act to truly warm up a crowd, in a bar, on a Friday night, ML&TD did the trick just fine. Not too flashy, just a five-piece with a few pretty harmonies, glib songwriting and a lead guitarist (Dean Kattari) that deftly noodled through each song like it was the first one he ever learned. Lindley's songs tend toward the stories of Americana; sappy love songs, soul baring confessionals with a sense of fun and a country edge. Highlight was [...]

Laurent Violet est heureux comme tout ! L'Equipe de France au fond de jeu somptueux ira défendre sa place de finaliste à la coupe du monde de foot en Afrique du Sud :

You know that one song, the one you love because the lyrics seem like the songwriter just reached inside your head and grabbed them? The Avett Brothers continue to make those perfect songs for me on their latest album, I and Love and You, released in late September. In their first major studio record, the Avett Brothers continue to establish themselves as an important American group with an unstoppable voice. Their unique blend of bluegrass-folk-punk translates well to a major label, without many moments of "Oh, they sold [...]

JD McDonald - "Boogaloo Santa Claus" Strut presents: In The Christmas Groove If you're anything like we are, the constant barrage of adult contemporary schlock that passes for holiday music can get a little much around this time of year. It's supposed to be party music after all, no? With celebration in mind, Strut has compiled at collection of holiday themed jams that will be sure to keep your spirits bright this season. JD McDonald's "Boogaloo Santa Claus" is raw funk of the [...]

Mostly by Stoned Ranger. Free Energy / Max Tundra / Deastro (The Cavern): In the world of electro pop, nothing says "mixed bag" better than a new album from off kilter synth goof Max Tundra. After nearly a decade long career in which he received early and constant praise from Pitchfork, among other publications, Tundra continues to explore r&b, synth pop, funk, free jazz and glitch pop with an eye towards straight forward dance pop and at least one foot planted firmly in the realm [...]

We've been covering a lot of folk here on TBW recently, and for good reason. There are just so many good folkish bands appearing on the radar. One blog that if it had any theme might be a good folk leaning is that of Song, by Toad and lo and behold, Matthew's little spin off record label put out another gem in a split 123 of two delightfully different folk bands in Loch Lomond and The Builders & the Butchers ( MySpace ). I can't give him all the credit for this [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive Matt and Kim 's music video for 'Lessons Learned' proves that the indie pop duo is pretty comfortable with their bodies. However, it had to take some convincing and a few foot massages from singer and keyboardist Matt Johnson to get his girlfriend -- and the band's drummer -- Kim Schifino to strip down to nothing in Times Square. "You get anything you want that way, fellas," Johnson told Spinner at the mtvU Woodie Awards. "I thought that song [...]
WE ARE THE WORLD RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM 'CLAY STONES' ON MANIMAL VINYL FEBRUARY 23, 2010 IAMSOUND set to release "Clay Stones" single on January 26, 2010 "[We Are The World] work the dance beat, taking pop to strange outer space."– Paper Magazine "Art-damaged electronica." – LA Weekly "We Are the World celebrates the visual as much as the sonic—incorporating into their performance as much dance and design as music with fantastically spooky effects. We Are the World raised the bar." – LA Record "I feel that referring to them as [...]

I classici problemi che ha metropolitana di Londra nel weekend, la fermata di Wembley Park, quegli scalini e la camminata. Lo stadio così imponente sulla sinistra e Little By Little nell'aria mentre ci si avvicina all'arena.

Howl - ' I Hear It's Love' (mp3) Howl, you animated bunch of little twerps, you smug teenage dirtbags with your corresponding assymetrical haircuts and your sharp monochromatic attire; thank you for compelling the bulk of the population of twenty-something musos to shirk back to their factory day jobs screwing lids on toothpaste tubes. What is wrong with you? Kids your age should be spitting in burgers. Not winning national radio band [...]
