So... yet another year has almost passed... I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the people that has made guestposts here on the blog. Many thanks to you, and to all the readers for continuing to follow the blog. It means a lot to me, even if you don't add any comments anymore. The list of 2009: In spite of what all the kids say, it's not been a super-quality year. It's been a "CK One"-year, e.g everything sounds more or less the same. [...]

I've been asked "what's your favourite album of 20093 several times, and I've even been asked to make my top albums of the decade list, but I really can't do it. It's almost impossible for me to make a list like that, - there is so much good music, and I can't say that one is better than another. What I like about year-end lists is that that I sometimes discover albums I haven't heard , and that's the kind of list I want to make. Here are my recommended [...]

Now for your busy weekend, starting with two festivals:] Head east: The third annual Clean Air Clear Stars festival goes off at Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace, with a heaping helping of excellent psych-rock tonight, Saturday and Sunday. Support global cooling. Head south: For family fun and a side order of good local music, there's the Lobster Festival at the Port of Los [...]

Will the festival season ever end? Part of me hopes so, but another part hungers for more. And The Wire sponsored Adventures in Modern Music Festival at Chicago's Empty Bottle this past week pushed that hunger to a limit. I'm now pretty sure that another festival would kill me. Now, that's certainly not to say that I didn't enjoy my four days at one of Chicago's best venues; it didn't help that I was sick, and couldn't make it out of the house for one of the five shows. But, the array of noise, improv, under-the-radar, generally weird [...]

Recommended Show: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2009 OK GO @ THE BELl HOUSE 149 7th Street Brooklyn, NY 11215 $20, 9:30PM I thought that OK Go would've been one of those bands to quickly fall out of the limelight shortly after their 2002 hit, "Get Over It." However, the band maintained exposure in the spotlight with quirky videos and catchy songs. "A Million Ways" and "Here It Goes Again" not only kept the band in people's minds, but also exposed them to many new fans. Tonight they play in Brooklyn at The Bell House. [...]

Recommended Show: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2009 EXPERIMENTAL DENTAL SCHOOL, LE RUG, & GRANDCHILDREN @ MARKET HOTEL 1142 Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11221 $8, 8PM It was a tough call picking only one show to recommend today, considering the wealth of good events going on. Ultimately, I had to settle on the Todd P show at Market Hotel with Experimental Dental School, Le Rug (with Fiasco), Grandchildren, and some band called Oberhofer. Each of these bands alone was an encouraging push to pick it, but them all together? Well, that's just over the top! [...]
