Vaganza Trailerpark , hailing from Malmö, released their second EP in the end of last year, "...and you will know us by the trailer of pink feathers". It's an energic rock that doesn't rest many seconds during the five songs. Heavy blues rock, stoner rock, garage rock and a lot of vibes from back in time like for example in "I Know That Radio" where I imagine Jefferson Airplane, but rawer and heavier. Another ingredient is punk rock, which you can hear most of in the song "Vaganza Dynamite", which is featured here below. The band name was [...]

Ever since his tag team effort with Marco Lys to bring us ' Violins ' and his stellar collaboration with Michael Woods that let us hear the sounds of ' Domino's ,' we have all appreciated the deep driving progressive house sounds that Chris Lake has produced. Today Chris Lake released his newest track on Ultra Records titled 'Build Up,' which features a nice mix of some progressive house, heavy grinding electro, and most importantly, vocals from his wife! Gita Lake! Cool stuff. Released in the package as well is an edit by Tommy Trash , [...]
We're not sure if Tommy Trash has any shortcomings in his life, but we are damn sure that lack of effort is not among them. A week ago he released his remix of "Ladi Dadi ," he followed that up with his remix of " Unite Us ." Today, Chris Lake's "Build Up" gets a heavy dose of awesome injected into it. Remember, this is an edit and not a full blown remix. This means that both the original and the edit will sound similar, but Tommy's packs a little more punch. This reminds me a little [...]

Today, of Montreal releases its latest collection of pop cacophony, Paralytic Stalks . This time around, musical brewmeister Kevin Barnes mixes things up, intermingling the influences of 20th century classical composers like Partch and Ligeti, experimenting with through-composition, and using session players for the first time. Paralytic Stalks also marks the first time in quite awhile that Barnes has written or recorded without the use of an alternate persona or character. Consequence of Sound 's Research Editor Len Comaratta caught up with Barnes while he was at home in Athens, GA as he and the [...]

Hey, so I'm Evan , and since this is a new thing, let me take a minute to explain what this column is and why it exists. When I was 13, skinny and gangly, inexplicably wearing enormous Space Ghost (really, Brak) T-shirts, my mom worked at the Huntington, West Virginia Borders. At some point, she bought a Ramones compilation with her employee discount, and in short order, it was added to my listening rotation. A lot of people have those sudden epiphanies where something changes the way they think and feel about music. For me, one of [...]

We didn't need an indie soundtrack to control the mood. Or gogo dancers to heighten the senses. Or alcohol to make it mindless. But now reality sets in and I realize that I will have to adapt to the bullshit called "my everyday" again. Remix of a remix of an already amazing tune... Sounds a bit like overkill but the Zeds Dead touch to it is a great addition. Sebastien Tellier - Divine (Danger Remix - Zeds Dead ReRemix) [...]
Earlier this week, ex-Fleet Foxes drummer and longtime singer-songwriter J. Tillman announced the details of his latest project Fear Fun , which will be released under the name Father John Misty, as opposed to his previous solo releases. A video for the first single "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings" featuring Aubrey Plaza came attached with the announcement. Directed by Noel Paul, the video follows Plaza's character as she proceeds to trash a funeral and wander out in to the wilderness, before being captured by Tillman and summarily thrown in his van. With such a striking video, it'd [...]

Conducted January 4, 2012. Boldy James' 2011 release Trapper's Alley: Pros and Con's was my favorite full-length from last year. Thanks to a gift for evocative writing, and a subtle, low-key poetic sensibility, Boldy released one of the year's most powerful records. I've spoken about it in detail on Pitchfork , but if you missed it last year, you may want to #GetInTune . Tell me a little bit about your background, when you [...]
Some people just don't know their own talent. Here's what SynthWave producer Lost Years wrote about this track on SoundCloud: " I'm not really sure about this track... I've been working with it for a week and that's not my usual 'style'. Most of the time I do a track in 3 hours. I think I tried too hard with this one and It did not came out as good as it should. Trash bin or not... you decide? ". I've no idea how he can remain so humble about such an awesome tune. 'Digital V1' [...]

Rodrigo Y Gabriela aren't afraid to experiment with boundaries. Notoriously rising through the ranks from a trash metal band to busking on the streets of Mexico City, the duo persevered, eventually making their name in the pubs and bars of Dublin. Their vibrant talent eventually led to an international presence, culminating in a headline slot at Glastonbury Festival in 2010. All the while they embellished, practiced and perfected their frantic Latino rock until it reached astronomical proportions. Besides their collaboration with Hans Zimmer on the new Pirates of the Caribbean score, [...]
