Rapid , Ruff Sqwad Signee is giving his latest tune away free on his twitter. I'm not gonna lie, this tune is pretty damn good. The video is equally as impressive too. If all UK Hip-Hop was like this, we'd be chart-topping more often. Click for a DL link, catch the video below: Next up; the 'chart version' of Kanye West and Mr. Hudsons 'Anyone But Him.' If you were a follower of this site from last year, you may remember we posted this track way before the [...]

I can't even remember what made me pick this one out of the vinyl bargain bin in 1973 or thereabouts: maybe just the title. Ostensibly it was just another of those one-off albums from some itinerant musos who fall in together on their way from their previous bands to their next combos. John Ford and Richard Hudson had been the bassist and drummer for Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, a third-division R'n'B-into-psych-lite outfit that released a handful of singles and one unsuccessful album in 1968/69. Guitarist Paul Brett had been a latterday member of now-legendary psychedelic outfit Tintern Abbey, though not [...]
The end of the present decade is only days away, so our Frank Deserto has undertaken the massive task of presenting the highs and lows of each year. He continues this series with a look back on 2006. Hit us with your memories in the comment section. 2006 was an incredibly curious year in music. The "independent" ( ahem indie-mainstream) movement still raged on, while several more informed pop hits dropped like hotcakes in clubs and on the radio. These pop tunes seemed far less disposable, less interchangeable, and far more fun than those available at [...]

YULE have been mad not to have noticed that, in the words of Shakin' Stevens : "'Tis the season." As my Christmas present to you, tomorrow I'll unveil my Top 10 Albums Of The Year 2009, revealing who is following in the footsteps of acts behind previous Albums Of The Year such as System Of A Down , Portishead , The Libertines , The Beatles and Arcade Fire . You'll also find out if anyone can join Biffy Clyro as double winners - groups in the running this year include [...]
A DRUMMER from Loughborough has hit the big time playing with rising star Mr Hudson . Andrew "Wilkie" Wilkinson, 24, grew up in Nanpantan, and has played for local acts including punk band Wester and the Loughborough Grammar School Big Band . However nowadays Wilkie more commonly shares a stage with top international stars - such as Kanye West , Amy Winehouse , Calvin Harris and Sting - as part of Mr Hudson's band The Library, who scored a major hit with single Supernova earlier this year. Wilkie's work can [...]

Dylan said he'd know his song well before he'd start singing. Jai Little Diamond (one Mike Taylor) isn't in a hurry to sing any half-learned tune. When his celebrated alt-country band, The Court and Spark, darkened several years ago Diamond and fellow Sparker, Scott Hirsch, wrote some tunes, gathered together a roadworthy band and played some dates as Hiss Golden Messenger . Fast forward to the summer of 2009; Diamond is resettled in rural North Carolina, Hirsch is in NYC and their first album, Country Hai East Cotton (reapandsow), is signed, sealed and delivered. Boasting a lineup [...]

Hello beautiful people of the interweb! Mainstream Monday is upon us and I've got a tasty mixture of music which will hopefully go down a treat. The release of Mr Hudson s' Straight No Chaser is nigh (October 19) and is shaping up beautifully. This is the album's closing number and it's a stunning one. Mr Hudson - Time [...]

Jennifer Hudson is sharing a photo of her 7 week old son. The new mother named her little boy bundle of joy, David Otunga Jr. after her fiancé. Hudson welcomed her first child on August 10th, 2009. She never really came out and said "Holla! I am preggers!" on a magazine cover showing off her bump. Instead she kept it classy and enjoyed her pregnancy in peace. "David and I were the only people who knew for a long time. I would forget I was pregnant, it was so easy. [...]
Keri Hilson does an outstanding cover of Mr. Hudsons "Supernova". They completely recreate the instrumental of the song, and give it a different vibe. This is a song you really wouldn't expect her to cover, but then again she did a cover for "Beggin" by Madcon. yeahzah
I personally cannot wait for Mr. Hudsons debut studio album 'Straight No Chaser.' All of the leaks from it have so far been very good and I personally expect big things from the G.O.O.D Music singer. Heres the video for his second single 'White Lies.' We posted this a smidgen over two months ago and has since then grown on me a lot. He proves here that he doesnt need a Cudi 16 or a Kanye verse to make a hit (unlike ' Supernova ' and 'Everything is Broken' ). [...]
photo: werkunz1 I havent posted music in a fuckin' age. Its been a very busy period for me so I apologise in that respect. Without further ado though .. I'm gonna kick off with a bit of Skream . Now, I'm a big fan of this dude. I have posted frequently about his previous works in the past and will continue to listen to more of his stuff. I heard this tune on the radio ages and ages ago and have been looking for a full link ever since. I [...]

Why cant I turn on the computer without reading about Calvin Harris anymore? May be because he's got a subscription on high chart entries. Just like Dizzee Rascal has. After Calvin Harris did " Dance Wiv Me " for Dizzee Rascal , he hooked him up with the next straight to number one single. "Holiday". Dizzee went to the UK top from zero for the third time in a row with this one (listen below). I liked Bonkers better. Its a thin line between pop and pop . [...]

After months of speculation, a growing baby bump and dodging baby confirmations, Jennifer Hudson gave birth ! She and her soon to be husband, David Otunga , welcomed their first child into the world yesterday evening. Their baby boy is health, happy and weighs 7lbs. 14 oz. Hudson and her fiance named him David Daniel Otunga Jr. To add to the couple's excitement they let the gender be a surprise. During a baby shower in Chicago a friend confirmed that [...]

I've been home/dog sitting for my boss for the last few weeks, so I've been subject to shitty internet and total deprivation of my library. As a result, I've been forced to listen to the radio, and it really is as bad as Albert said it was. In any given day, I'll hear Keri Hilson's Knock You Down about 14 times and Pitbull's Ocho another 10…that is until I discovered that my Boss's car came equipped with XM radio. Et voilà! I've been able to avoid Lady Gaga (to some extent) and take my Pete Tong [...]

Bit of a short post because i have to run but check out the video for Make Her Say above, the track by Kid Cudi featuring Common and Yeezy, sampled from our favourite Pop Diva Lady Gaga's Pokerface! And while we're on the topic of Lady GaGa, I came across this remix of Chillin which she features on by Wale! Wale feat Lady GaGa - Chillin (The Knocks Remix) Passion Pit [...]

Mistakable for the beginning of a bad joke and a flat punchline, A Cave, A Canoo is not such a set-up but rather the name of the upcoming CD/LP from Portland native Shelley Short . The release is due October 13th, with the compact disc coming out via Hush Records and the limited-edition LP through Anonymous Records, each containing a unique photograph from Shelley's brother, Faulkner. Shelley Short - "Time Machine/Submarine" Shelley Short [...]
