Despite Paul Banks' active promotion of his impressive solo debut, Julian Plenti is...Skyscraper , the fourth Interpol album is still on track for release in early 2010. Drummer Sam Fogarino has even alluded to its close relationship to Interpol's darkly expansive 2002 debut, Turn on the Bright Lights , telling Paste Magazine, "In trying to move forward, there was an unspoken realization that you can't let go of your sonic-defining tag." An intriguing sentiment. While The Strokes argue over whether their new songs veer too far from the band's core sound, Interpol is retreating back [...]

Paul Banks was certainly the crowd favorite at the Julian Plenti show at Chop Suey on Monday night. Although there were cheers of "I love you, Paul" throughout the set, the musicians Banks brought in to back his solo project were certainly no slouches (particularly the bassist and cellist, whose names this writer was unfortunately unable to find). As it was an all-ages show, those of the audience who wanted to imbibe were relegated to the back bar. This did not make for easy listening, as [...]
Here is day three of my favorite albums of the aughts. There's a lot of good stuff here (in my opinion). I hope you are taking advantage of the full album streams via LaLa.com . I will continue with the posts next Monday. I hope you enjoy. View 50-41 After the Jump… 50: Kings of Convenience - Riot on an Empty Street (2004) [...]
In an interview with Paste Magazine, Drummer Sam Fogarino said that we can expect new material from the band next year. He also said they will go back to the sound of the first album, after their last one disappointed...

Interpol have revealed that their new album will be released in early 2010 - and is a bit of a retro affair. The record will be the follow-up to 2007's 'Our Love To Admire' and the group's fourth studio album, and the band's drummer Sam Fogarino has revealed how the sound of the LP is a return to that of their 2002 debut album 'Turn On The Bright Lights'. "The new record falls back towards the first," he told Paste Magazine . He added: "In trying to move forward, there was an unspoken realisation that you can't [...]

Sebastian Mlynarski When I rounded up all the bits of information around Holly Miranda's solo project back in January , I had no notion that interest in it would eclipse that given to her main band, The Jealous Girlfriends . But her more atmospheric approach is certainly more in line with what people expect/want to hear wafting out of Brooklyn these days and it has apparently tickled more ears than the Girlfriends' heaver, more guitar-driven rock did. So while the Girlfriends take a deserved break, Miranda has been busy - [...]

Interpol are set to release the follow-up to 2007's ' Our Love To Admire ' early next year. Drummer Sam Fogarino recently revealed do to Paste Magazine that the band have finished recording the new album and will release it in early 2010 via Capitol Records. Speaking about the forthcoming album Fogarino revealed the band had gone back to their roots and that the new album will sound similar to their debut album, ' Turn On The Bright Lights '. Interpol [...]
Death Cab For Cutie forsangeren Ben Gibbards hyggeprojekt The Postal Service rendte med 2. pladsen, blandt andet foran to [...]
Plus, Courtney Love gatecrashes the sessions...
Il successore di "Our Love to Admire" arriverà a inizio 2010.

This interesting, blistering bit of cathartic noise-rock comes courtesy of the group Weekend. The San Francisco quartet blaze through a song equal parts Isn't Anything and Interpol, ratcheting up the tension with each passing second. Just short of four and a half minutes, the song finally careens out of control, with rampaging snare hits and walls of feedback. This kind of sounds like being trapped in a tin can with a wolverine. With Spoon, Beach House, Interpol, Vampire Weekend, Four Tet, The Magnetic Fields, Hot Chip, and Rogue Wave (among plenty of others that I'm forgetting, surely) all slated to drop new records in early 2010, the new year looks like it will be starting off with a bang. At least for fans of independent music anyway. Of any of those though (besides Spoon), the upcoming release I'm most excited about is Shearwater's The Golden Archipelago . Reason being that Rook , their amazing 2008 album, made such a big [...]

Bodies of Work: Flyers Bodies of London formed in London in 2008. Since that type they released their debut single "Better Sorry Than Safe" and now their debut EP Flyers . The band's sound is a mixture of new wave and post-punk. Their synthesizer parts are reminiscent of Hot Fuss -era the Killers but the vocals are more similar to the Bravery . What gives the music a memorable quality are the backing vocals by keyboardist Lizzie Holdforth; when the male/female vocals are at their best they remind me of [...]

Filed under: News , Album , New Music The members of Interpol will finally put their respective solo projects to the side and release a new studio album early next year. The as-yet-untitled follow up to 2007's 'Our Love to Admire' was recorded at Manhattan's legendary Electric Lady studios in the spring of 2009 and will sonically resemble the New York indie giants' debut disc, 'Turn on the Bright Lights.' "That big wash of reverb? It's back. It's there. I personally brought two reverb tanks to the [...]
project, but the last time we heard from Interpol was on their 2007 ...
In an interview with Paste , Interpol drummer Sam Fogarino says we can expect the fourth full-length release from the suave post-punk revivalists sometime early next year. The album was recorded at New York City's famed Electric Lady studios, which included at least one celebrity onlooker. But far from being a distraction, Fogarino fondly recalls Courtney Love's visit as being "like some weird Coen brothers shit." Following the lukewarm reception of 2007's Our Love to Admire , Fogarino promises the new material to be [...]
