Ed Sheeran is one of the music industries best kept secrets, why one of the major labels has not put a large advance in his hand and sent him to a studio I have no idea. His music is clever, witty sometimes way beyond his years. Last week he opened a show featuring Iglu & Hartley/New Politics at Norwich Art Centre, the place was half full when Ed started but by the end of his set it was packed. There are many reasons why Ed holds a crowd. [...]

Out now on Barsuk words : Jamie Milton Phantogram don't do things by halves. Their diverse debut album showcases gung-ho attempts at pop gone psychedelic, pop gone anthemic, pop gone hip-hop or pop gone ethereal. With each effort they pour in melody and atmosphere and whilst their songs are shaped with similar male-female vocals and delay-driven guitars to The xx , Phantogram show nothing in terms of allowing for empty spaces. This, over time, takes something away from the longevity of ' Eyelid Movie s ' as an album. [...]

Out now on Patient Sounds words : Jamie Milton You enter from one side of ' M. Pyres & New Past Tense' and you come out of a completely different end, into an unrecognisable landscape compared to the one you came from. Such is the contrast between opener and closer, both titled ' Gravity Deluxe' but with different, bracketed sub-titles to help differentiate the two. The first is a serene, Grizzly Bear -esque opener of huggable reverb and soft, colliding [...]
Jamie Lidell Compass (Warp) Releasing: 18 May Beck and Feist are just two of the musical luminaries stepping in for an assist on UK blue-eyed soul meister Jamie Lidell's new platter due out in May. This goes beyond the casual guest appearance, as both Beck and Feist wrote tunes with Lidell for Compass. Oh, and some folks from Wilco and Grizzly Bear turned up too. This should be a good one and here's a stream...

Psychopathic records' own Twiztid have just released their tour schedule for Spring 2010. The infamous duo of Jamie Madrox and Monoxide released their 7th studio album W.I.C.K.E.D. last year, and it was the groups highest charting album to date, peaking at #11 on the Billboard 200 . The album is also the third-highest charting album in Psychopathic Records history, beaten only by label mates ICP's The Amazing Jeckel Brothers and the recently released Bang! Pow! Boom! [...]
Here's the beautifully heartwarming video for Jamie T's latest single 'Emily's Heart'. This version differs slightly from the version on 'Kings & Queens'. Most noticeable is the inclusion of a string section towards the end of the song, a great decision which adds to the sincerity in Jamie's lyrics. 'Emily's Heart' is released March 14th, it's taken from Jamie T's latest album 'Kings & Queens' which was released last year. Official Website | MySpace | Last.FM [...]
Anjunadeep will release a second label compilation on February 15th, showcasing their distinct blend of progressive and electro house and deeper trance. Regular Anjuna producer Jaytech and label boss James Grant mix a disc each of Anjunadeep 02, and it features cracking new tracks from the likes of Jody Wisternoff, Solarity, Martin Roth, the on-form Oliver Smith and many more. It's a bit more of a trancey affair than its predecessor we think, and packs a hefty punch once again. Tracklisting: [...]

So the economy is in the toilet, the political landscape is a nightmare on both a national and global level, and at times it seems like you can hear the hooves of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse thundering in the distance. At least we've still got music! And even in the early weeks of of 2010, this year is already shaping up to be even better than the last for innovative artists new and old, especially this week, whether those artists aim to get us feeling good 'n' greasy with some honky-tonk country or stimulate our gray matter with [...]

The new Jamie Lidell LP goes by the name of 'Compass' and in case you were wondering, it's sounding pretty gosh darn awesome as far as we're concerned. Due on March 18th through the Warp label, the record features some of the best guest-spots we've seen in sometime including Feist, Beck and his keyboardist Brian LeBarton, Pat Sansone of Wilco, three-quarters of Grizzly Bear (all but Ed Droste), songwriter Gonzales and a few more to boot.

Jamie Lidell returns this year with his new album 'Compass', out on May 18th via Warp. The follow up to 2008's 'Jim' was recorded in Los Angeles, New York and Canada and features contributions from Feist, Beck, Gonzales, Chris Taylor of Chris Bear Grizzly Bear and Pat Sansone of Wilco. First taste, the track "Compass", sounds like nothing Lidell has done before. Listen Carefully... Stream:> Jamie Lidell: "Compass"

Με νέα σύνθεση οι xiu xiu στο Dear God, I Hate Myself συνεχίζουν εκεί που τελείωνε το boy soprano (το Women as Lovers δεν [...]
