Los Angeles punk veterans X have announced a handful of December tour dates in California. The band's second "Merry Xmas" show takes place on December 19th in LA with guests Calexico. Dates in Sacramento and San Francisco to follow. The mood of the music reveals Dylan as he is now and the lazy grooves perfect for a man who no doubt has had some time to reflect, but has not lost his fun or caustic wit. I had one of those mystical communions with this song, years ago. In a piny subdivision, watching a video documentary about the band. Maybe having smoked some weed. Probably. The tuneful summing up. Wow, talk about shocking! A industry produced mixtape that actually has mixing on it. At first my expectations were pretty low considering Duck Down's 2008 mixtape "Hotline" but this collection of tunes from Duck Down artists is pretty golden. The only exception being Kidz In Hall's "Flickin". Why was that song included I don't hazard a guess but "Mixed Emotions" and "No Love" by Team Facelift more than makeup for that minor stumble.
