It's been a busy last few months for Ben Gibbard . First there was that Jay Farrar collaboration on the Jack Kerouac soundtrack . And, of course, there's the Death Cab for Cutie song on that soundtrack for the shiny vampire movie. Plus, the man got married! Yet despite all this, Mr. Zooey Deschanel has once again made time found time to join an already all-star line-up for a killer new album. And this time it's not just for our entertainment. According to Spinner.com , Gibbard [...]

Known for his highly literate lyrics on his solo work, along with his time spent in the Auteurs and Black Box Recorder, Luke Haines has a new album out called 21st Century Man . Jarvis Cocker's oddly priapic solo release this year, Further Complications , was mostly disappointing, but for those looking for a witty, smart and musical Cocker-like album for 2009, they should definitely check out Mr. Haines' new work. Neil Young wrote Southern Man as an anti-slavery missive about the American South, and with his new album, Haines [...]
1. Ye Haeng Ja (A Brand New Life), [South Korea], Ounie Lecomte, [2009], *** Ο πατέρας της μικρής Τζίνι δε μπορεί να της προσφέρει τη ζωή που θα ήθελε και την εγκαταλείπει σ'ένα ορφανοτροφείο θηλέων..

by Klaus Kinski As a youngster, my punk rock friend Bob was constantly trying to get me to listen to more than just metal. He succeeded in getting me into groups like Pegboy, Black Flag, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Samhain, The Misfits, Public Image Ltd. and the like. But two acts that really appealed to me at the time and ended up being the soundtrack to the summer of 1992 were The Descendents and [...]
Blackhouse Records has signed Sugar Skulls . The Seattle-based four piece recently returned to action from a lengthy hiatus and are getting set to release their full length A Little Death on the label. You can preview some of the band's music at MySpace . The band will soon play a six year anniversary show in their hometown on Halloween at the Rendevous Jewel Box Theatre. They'll play alongside Amber Asylum, Kawabata from Acid Mothers, members of Kinski , and the violinist from Ovo.
The Hitchhiker is a long running mystery/horror series developed by HBO in the 80's and later aired on the USA network in the early 90's. Similar in structure to The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and Tales From The Darkside, each episode explored supernatural tales of human tragedy and regularly featured notable actors like Klaus Kinksi, Gary Busey, and Willem Dafoe. The bottom video is from Kinksi's episode called "Love Sounds" . The clip should speak for itself and explain why I like this series so much. I'll leave you with this track from New Order and [...]

by Klaus Kinski I am seriously kicking myself inside and out right now for forgetting to mention that one of my favorite west coast comedians is doing a one-off NYC-area headlining show at Comix TONIGHT (!!) (10/7). San Francisco based comedian Brent Weinbach is one of the most brilliant and unique comedians I have ever seen... and I've only seen him live once. To quote my earlier self (with words I lifted from his website), Brent Weinbach's stand-up comedy [...]

Tu.
by Klaus Kinski A few nights ago I had a dream that my personal favorite Monty Python cast member Michael Palin approached me after I had finished a speaking engagement and asked me to join a reunited Python cast for a world tour. I declined the offer because I was apparently about to head out on tour with Radiohead as their new drummer. Alas, that was only a dream and my, our, only opportunity to see the [...]

words by Black Bubblegum , photos by Ryan Muir "Charleston show was hands down the best show I have ever seen. I still cant comprehend it. It was so jam packed, that if you made it on top of the crowd you were just kinda up there for a bit. Played essentially the same set too but in different order and a bit shorter I think. Hellbastard headlined too. Rorschach opening with "Raw Nerve" at Santos Party House and later doing "Mandible" [...]

Natassja Kinski, One From The Heart The Shirelles Baby, It's You (1961) The Beatles Baby, It's You (1963) Smith Baby, It's You (1969) ~ From the pen of Burt Bacharach, Baby, It's You was always a bit melancholic, but Smith turns it into a minor-key bluesy stomper that actually kinda works with a killer [...]

The last Kinski appearance for awhile is happening this Friday Sept 25th in Seattle. They 're playing as part of the Escalator Festival at the Lo Fi Gallery on Eastlake. It's a tiny space where the performers hit it right thereon the floor with you and there is a great little overlook balcony. They're going to be doing something kind of different that may involve 3 keyboards. That's all the info I have so you'll just have to come check it out. Friday Sept 25th $12 - 21+ Escalator Festival [...]

by Klaus Kinski As a young mullet-headed headbanger growing up in the pre-internet late 80's and early 90's Cape Cod, my only resource for expanding my metal horizons was Metal Maniacs . Sure, I enjoyed the titans of that era (Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, etc) but what I craved was the most vile, lightning fast death metal in the world. Thanks to Metal Maniacs, I was exposed to the likes of Deicide , Napalm Death , Carcass [...]

Luke Hainesin (The Auteurs, Black Box Recorder, Baader Meinhof) uudesta soololevystä on alkanut tihkua tietoa. Mahtipontisesti nimetty 21st Century Man ilmestyy 2. marraskuuta. Rajoitetun digipack-painoksen mukana tulee myös 9 biisin bonuslevy Achtung Mutha . Levyn tiedote antaa kuvaa tulevasta: In 2009 and with the release of 21st Century Man, Luke Haines has finally cemented his place as one of the greatest English contemporary songwriters. He may be equally at home writing about teenage sex, terrorism, pop/film stars, child murder or broken love affairs but he's excelled himself on this, his fifteenth album [...]
by Klaus Kinski How do you get some of the Tri-State area's biggest nerds to yell "Holy shit!", drop their Xbox 360 controllers and head for the door at record speeds? Tell them that IFC and BAFTA are reuniting the entire MONTY PYTHON troupe for one night only in NYC in celebration of their outstanding contributions to television and film. On October 15th , John Cleese , Terry Gilliam [...]
by Klaus Kinski Secret Wars @ All Points West 2009 ( more by Tim Griffin ) So we've got the Del Close Marathon happening this weekend (8/14-8/16) and we've got the New York Comedy Festival happening in November. And now it is with unbridled enthusiasm that I can achieve a comedy-festival-posting-hat-tr ick by announcing the EUGENE MIRMAN COMEDY FESTIVAL which is set to take over Brooklyn venues [...]
by Klaus Kinski 'Big Fan' - April 1, 2009 ( AFI Dallas ) It slowly dawned on me after mentioning Patton Oswalt 's participation in the upcoming New York Comedy Festival that I was neglecting a small pile of other bits of Patton Oswalt related news. To begin with, Patton is about to embark on a tour that will have him zig-zagging all over the country for the next few months. The entire [...]
by Klaus Kinski If the NY Comedy Festival is at one end of the comedy festival spectrum, then the Del Close Improv Marathon resides at the absolute opposite end. I am really excited to report that the 11th Annual Del Close Improv Marathon is, like, just around the corner. Dude. Taking place from August 14th - August 16th , the 56-hour NON-STOP improv marathon will take [...]
