It seems last year's American Idol winner has a very soft spot for the beloved romantic comedy… and who better to share it then the whole freaking world? This is what Kris Allen related on the matter: "I was in my hotel room & I started watched MARLEY & ME again. The first time I watched it, I cried on the plane. Then this time, I was like, 'I am going to make it through', But I didn't'! I cried like a little baby." Isn't that sweet? Kris Allen's female fan base should really go up a few points after [...]

Derrick Coleman. Carmelo Anthony. Billy Owens. Sherman Douglas. John Wallace. Lawrence Moten. Hakim Warrick. Rony Seikaly. Gerry McNamara. Jonny Flynn. Stevie Thompson. Preston Shumpert. Etan Thomas. I've seen all these superstars go through Syracuse since I started following Orange basketball circa 1988. I've seen the amazing John Wallace-led run to the Final Four in 1996. I've seen the more amazing Melo/GMac/Warrick run to the NCAA championship in 2003. I've seen Gerry McNamara win the Big East tournament two years in a row, all by himself. I've seen Jonny Flynn struggling to walk at the end of a 6 OT win [...]

Photographer: Kris Mathews Website: here It looks like Blood Red Shoes more than lived up to the "special guests" tag here. Kris got some fantastic shots from all the bands though. Here's a few of our favourites, plus the entire set as a slideshow! [...]

MP3: Pontiak - Life and Coral from Sea Voids (2009) The prolific Pontiak released two stellar albums in 2009: Maker and Sea Voids , and look to have a new release this Spring. Both albums have garnered considerable critical praise, and they've ridden a steadily rising wave of internet popularity. Their live show is captivating and loud...catch them close out Sonar's Club stage at Aural States Fest II on January 30th. AS: Before releasing Sea Voids you moved back to the Shenandoah Mountains [...]
Adam Lambert performed "Strut" for the special Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday that celebrated the talk show host's 52nd birthday. But it was the items he put up for auction for Haiti earthquake relief on Ellen's website that really got the crowd cheering—an autographed portrait of himself and, uh, his underwear. "I wore my special Ellen underwear," he told DeGeneres, who seemed a bit nervous as the Idol rocker pulled the skivvies out of his pants. "They might be a little sweaty, but these are up for auction as well." You [...]
So, after a crazy couple weeks in late night, most the talkies are on vacation to begin this new post-Coco* world. Thankfully, there's still enough music this week to placate a hungry DVR, including the season finale to Spectacle , the second hour of a the two-part love-fest between Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello . * At least until Conan surfaces on another network in seven months. While it's best to see both parts, either episode works surprisingly well as standalone, and the interplay between Costello and Springsteen [...]

Congratulations and lots and love to Dannii Minogue and Kris Smith , who've just taken to Twitter to announce that they're expecting! Seriously, this is going to be one gorgeous baby. Now does anyone know where I can special order a mirror-ball binky? So happy for Dannii!!

A good album cover is a visual extension of what both album and artist are about. The best ones are instantly recognizable: four guys in suits crossing a street, the prism and the rainbow on black, the underwater baby chasing the dollar bill. Classic album covers become a part of us, forever ingrained our cultural DNA. The opposite -- the album covers so jumbled that they give us pause -- may not innately have the lasting power, but they shouldn't be passed by without acknowledgment. Thus, this list. Like any year, 2009 had its share of uncomely album covers (and [...]

photo by Matt Glasset A few years ago, Arcade Fire provided me with ultimately my greatest concert experience. But the one unsettling thing about their performance was the seeming lack of happiness and joy. Despite the uplifting nature of the band's songs, it seemed tough for Win Butler to put on a smile. So it's pretty great to see a band with songs almost as epic and almost as uplifting as Arcade Fire's with a lead singer who smiles. A lot. That's what makes Steel Train's live show so phenomenal: they have a ridiculous [...]
Day two and I've got another cracker for you, none other than Glasgow four piece Mitchell Museum. In my eyes they're the most exciting and innovative band to emerge from these shores in ages. Trying to pigeon hole their sound certainly isn't easy, they take elements of pop, folk, psych and electronica and blend it into something truly special. I managed to get a few words from the band, so get reading then check the links below. Would you care to introduce yourself? Hello my name is Cammy, and I'll [...]

A sloppily played first half for the Syracuse Orange tonight continued a holiday hangover that culminated with their first loss of the season, at home Saturday vs. Pitt. And Memphis employed the same strategy as Pitt did against our zone -- slow, slower, and slowest, just hold the ball as long as possible, hit 50% of your 3's and, as long as we keep throwing the ball away, you'll control the game. Andy Rautins hit a last-second three to tie the Memphis game at the half, though, and from there, the Syracuse team that took November and December by storm [...]

We've posted a ton of information on events going on across the City tonight, but what about for those people who are staying home? Or just having a party at a friend's house? Who the hell is playing those television specials? On ABC, it's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest with Jennifer Lopez and Daughtry . Taped performances from the Black Eyed Peas , Selena Gomez , Justin Bieber , Keri Hilson , Colbie Caillat , Orianthi , and Robin Thicke will [...]
This year, not different of all decade, if you use one single constant struggle, as well as juggling act between many different projects, is a personal relationship. Life is difficult, almost impossible to find a balance. What will come of all crashes when you start noticing that your foundation is cracked. Romantic relationship is the most damaged in this ambition. Robert Palmer - Johnny and Mary However, you can move it if you want. The above [...]
The end of the present decade is only days away, so our Frank Deserto has undertaken the massive task of presenting the highs and lows of each year. He continues this series with a look back on 2009. Hit us with your memories in the comment section. Well, we've finally made it to the end of the rainbow, just in the knick of time. A new year and a new decade just around the bend, and I can't wait to see what unfolds over the next ten years. 2009 has been a very curious [...]
Well folks, Christmas is just hours away and St. Nicholas is gearing up for his lengthy trip around the world. Dinners are in the process of being prepared, cases of beer are on ice and the kids are in the yard carving out snow angels. The Yuletide season has descended upon us without a doubt and all those cheerful Christmas feelings are in the air. To celebrate these joyous meanderings, legendary Los Angeles rock radio station KROQ hosted their yearly Almost Acoustic Christmas concert recently back on December 12th & 13th which featured some of the [...]

Yes, you read that right. It's not a Best-of list because if herohill has proved anything in our six or seven years of existence, it's that we don't often sync up with the masses and despite our great efforts, not many people really gravitate towards Canadian content, especially the acts we seem to love. So when you look at the list and start to disagree, to quote Rob Base, "you don't like it, so what, I don't care." Obviously, we want to turn you on to a few new bands, but we can't hit the mark with everyone. [...]
