Current events Monday! Gately DEAD. But what REALLY happened? A WANARB investigation... Let's analyse the information presented to us by quality newspaper The Daily Mail and get to the bottom of this mess! "The 33-year-old singer is understood to have fallen asleep on the sofa but is thought to have died after choking on his own vomit following a drinking session." He fucked up on GBL [...]
In the convertible Ghia. Top down. Tunes blasting. Love the Ripple life . . . Kyle Andrews - Real Blasty First CD popped into the player with a touch of trepidation, not being a fan of much of the "oh so coy" indie-pop crafted by young men locked in their rooms with a keyboard and a copy of ProTools. Think something like Bright Eyes and I'll drift off quicker than a fresh drip of Michael Jackson's propofol. Imagine [...]

It's been quite some time since the HT Crew got together for an old fashioned cookout, and frankly the ol' grill was getting a bit dusty and feeling neglected. With the summer - and for that matter the decade - rapidly coming to a close we figured we'd round up the gang, throw some large hunks of meat on the fire pit and crack open a few 21st Amendment Brew Free! Or Die IPAs for another rousing edition of At The Barbecue . It's hard [...]
We live in interesting times, friends. We get to witness first hand the demise of the Music Industry and its reign of havoc on modern art. We get to see brave new acts like our own How I Became the Bo... Continue reading "How I Became the Bomb, Kyle Andrews & Zut Alors at Mercy Lounge, 8/8/09" >

Synth-laden pop rock band How I Became The Bomb is our third entry in this month's feature on the bands of Dragon*Con 2009. Let me tell you that How I Became The Bomb is not only a great band name referencing Dr. Strangelove, but there is in fact a talented and good sounding band behind the name. Allies of last year's attending The Protomen , HiBtB can be seen at the convention this year as well as on tour across [...]
Remember when MTV actually played music videos, ones that you even liked? Well, in memory of the many things that have come and gone (R.I.P. Mike) we've saved you the effort of trying to find MTV 8 on the TV and will be showcasing a short playlist of handpicked music videos we appreciate. Week 1: Big Sean - Getcha Some (Dir. Hype Williams) : Fresh visuals paired with a catchy track off the upcoming album "Finally Famous" (look for Kanye) Miike Snow - Burial : Great video, [...]
I've been meaning to start this lil' column for a while now, so here we go. It's hot as hell these days, and if you aren't living the creek life then you better find a coffee shop of movie theater that pumps their AC like Jr. is still in the White House. Another solution is to start geeking out on the new snowboard teasers that have been flowing into our inbox like the rocky mountain waters into my can o' banquet beer. Here are the ones we are most excited about thus far… Lets [...]

60 Seconds in Times Square - 8/21/2006 A native New Yorker said to me yesterday, upon returning from a long absence from his city, "Damn, this city is unstoppable. It never dies." True. True. While I did not grow up in NYC, I began spending chunks of time here at 3 and always had an affinity for this New York. Although I always said I could never live in such an intense place I ended up living here for two very formative post-college years. On the occasion of my visit to such a seminal city I [...]

New Music | Kyle Andrews Right click save as. Do it. You won't regret it. It might bring back some fuzzy memories of Game Boy games to start with but ignore that for one second and try and focus. It is Monday remember? Missed this one (argh) from back in March, but better late than never, no? Youtube mosaic video here , but the whole 'interactive' element is pretty annoying. Just fyi.

Not really the type of 3 minutes I normally go for but it's particularly futile to try and resist the acoustic glow contained within. The glow is in fact the title track from Andrews' 2006 debut on Badman Recording Company (Starfucker). The best part is that Andrews doesn't play it straight even if doing so would have been the easiest path to take. Such ingenuity shouldn't go unnoticed and it is really nice to see how well received his self-released sophomore 'Real Blasty' has been. Who'd have believed that one man and his thoughts could be this much fun. [...]
I like upbeat songs; who doesn't? Check these out. Recording in Matt's old house in The Middle Of Nowhere, Vermont using their imaginations because they "hated recording in a studio" produces this: Matt & Kim - Daylight I don't know much about this one other than I liked it the first time I heard it. The Thermals - When I Died As I write this I have a craving for anything food related. Also, I love sushi... and this song. Kyle Andrews [...]

Another Friday, another chance to beat the crap out of the workday. What better way to do so than check out these soon-to-be-big (if not already) hometown acts: Russian Circles Russian Circles offer powerful, deft instrumental rock. Brings to mind fellow instrumentalists (and Chicagoans), Pelican. With Plague Bringer (industrial/grindcore insanity/awesomeness) and Lichens. Friday, 5/1 at Bottom Lounge . $12/14 OFFICE OFFICE = lively pop collective [...]
This week's video comes to us from Kyle Andrews for his tune "Sushi". It was created by using an incredible collage of YouTube videos. Enjoy! :: Kyle Andrews - "Sushi" on iTunes ::

Whoa, just noticed I haven't mentioned any of the new videos I've been throwing over to IndieMusicFilter.tv in a long time! Well, here's some of the great vids we've dug recently. Oh, and don't forget this one . Who Do We Care For by Sebastien Grainger . A very cool unofficial video for AC's 'My Girls' . Lisztomania by Phoenix . 'Bruises' by Chairlift (Athens Soundies) . 'Lessons' by Matt and Kim . [...]

Kyle Andrews just finished this amazing new video for his insanely catchy tune "Sushi"...themed around YouTube and their annotation feature... The director, Dennis Liu (who did the Mac themed video for the Bird and the Bee last year), pulled over 1.4 million titles, and thousands of unique YouTube video stills to make this groundbreaking mosaic video...and, to add to the fun, there's over 350 annotations embedded within it, taking you to 378 other classic YouTube videos at various points through the song...so it's as that element of surprise and makes it kinda like a game... Here's what you all (well, hopefully one or two of you) have been waiting for: the first Sarcasm And The City Playlist! I am by no means a cool indie kid, but if you are stuck in the pop/rock rut (and if you listen to mainstream radio, then you are), hopefully these songs will help you put down your new Fray CD for a few hours. I If you want to download the MP3's of these songs for FREE, simply sign up [...]
