If you like punk, and you live in L.A., Headline Records is the place to go to. When I have friends from out of town, I make a point to drive down to Melrose. Jean-Luc has seen the scene grow from an international standpoint. And if you have a chance, listen to him talk. Like with Curtis from TAANG, when I'm in Headline, I'm just a student in this punk game. 1. When did you start Headline Records, and what gave you the idea [...]

Having my blog has introduced me to tons of bands. Sometimes if I am lucky enough, I have been able to become friends with members of bands. It is like a dream come true to chat it out with real artists!! One band that I have stayed in close contact with is Local Natives . I have been addicted to their beautiful tunes every since I received my first email about them. It's all history since then! I couldn't just be there friend though; it was time to do some professional blogging! Matt Frazier, the drummer of [...]
Is it just me or have you been exhausted lately? I'm really not sure if it's seasonal or if I should see a doctor but I just can't motivate lately. This weekend I am determined to get myself off the couch and out to see some live local music. If I/we missed a show let us know by sounding off in the comments section. Friday: Over at the Crystal Corner you can catch some Americana and Rockabilly with Delilah DeWylde & the Lost Boys and Earl Foss and the Brown Derby [...]

My buddy Vin and I arrived at the show just in time to see Whiskey Daredevils, a local band with a lot of buzz. They started off their set by saying "Thanks for coming out on Wednesday night, we know you could be at home watching Modern Family." That's true, it's a good show, which stars Ohio native Ed O'Neill, but thankfully there's always Hulu. Whiskey Daredevils often play around the area, but for some reason I have not seen them before. We both have heard a lot of positive hype about them, so we pretty excited that we were [...]
Not since an early teenage flirtation with Dungeons & Dragons has State ever really embraced the role playing genre with anything even approaching gusto, so it's a testament to just how good Dragon Age: Origins is that we've lost sleep, been late for work and even spent time on a bus worrying about which Dwarven faction for the vacant King-ship we should align ourselves with. You play as one of the last Grey Wardens, a legendary line of dark warriors who have traditionally protected the kingdom of Ferelden from the darkspawn, a race of [...]
Friday, November 20, 2009 Today's Quick Mention: Lots of good shows this weekend. I recommend Free Energy at the Mohawk tonight, Leatherbag at the Ghost Room tomorrow and Local H on Sunday evening. Me? Yeah, I'll be on the couch, so be sure to have some fun for me too. Most of the bloggers in the world posted up today's song earlier in the week (last year in internet time), but I've never really understood the fascination with Beach House, and [...]
