Our good friends over at Earfarm (one Poptarts favorite blogs of 2009) just put out a holiday compilation disc amusingly titled " Do you EAR what I EAR? " and they are having little record release/holiday party tonight ( Dec 18 ) at Spike Hill in honor of it. If I didn't have my own office party to attend tonight, I would definitely be there. Here's a little more info on this evening's festivities: Dearest of EAR FARMErs - We're having a FREE party tonight. It's an [...]

Monday: The Slits, The Sundelles, + Sisters @ Highline Ballroom 7pm $15 [ tix ] Amid all the hoopla surrounding the reunions of bands like Pavement, My Bloody Valentine, Pixies, The Vaselines, Mission of Burma, etc., etc., some of reunions have been lost in the perpetual motion of all this getting back together. One such band is Britain's The Slits, an all-girl punk group that is sorely underrated and being a bit overlooked once again. The vivacious punks have been reunited since 2005 and are once again touring to pump the new Trapped [...]

Every year at this time people across this great land line up to play on your heart strings hoping to save noble charity after noble charity with just a few pennies from you. Every year we fall for at least a couple of them, especially when they're offering us something great in return. We've already shelled out $0.99 for Fucked Up's version of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" which benefits three great organizations up in Toronto ( read more here ) and we're sure some Salvation Army Santa's will managed to pry a few coins from [...]

Do you EAR what I EAR? is a holiday album for the Association to Benefit Children from Ear Farm.com. The album is a joint venture between EF and Let 'Em In Studios, and all of the proceeds from this project (unlike that money I sent to the tsunami victims a few years back) will go directly to the Association to Benefit Children, a New York-based service dedicated to permanently break the cycles of abuse, neglect, sickness and homelessness among disadvantaged children and their families. tracklisting: [...]

![Mock Orange - Captain Love - Tigertrap Records [Album Review]](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2087772_lg.jpg)
Hearing Captain Love made me want to HUP-two-three-four, stand at attention and snap a million salutes because it's so rare for me to take such pleasure from a rock album with pop persuasions. Mock Orange present a rare batch of influences before the listener and DARE him/her to deal with it, up to and including: A resemblance, in both the lead and back-up vocals, to How it Feels / Rising [...]

Recommended Show: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2009 PEELANDER-Z & MATH THE BAND @ MAXWELL'S 1039 Washington St Hoboken, NJ 07030 $10, 9PM I normally wouldn't recommend a show outside of the five boroughs, and this will be a trek for any city-dwellers. However, with both Peelander-Z and Math the Band on the bill tonight's show at Maxwell's is sure to be an insane experience. Mancino @ Union Hall Clutch @ The Fillmore TV Ghost @ Silent Barn Ludlow Lions @ Union Pool Indian Jewelry @ Cake Shop Children @ Knitting Factory Two Man [...]

EAR FARM is a very ethical place to work. For instance, it has a long-standing policy that the bands of employees will not be written about in any promotional, or critical manner. So while EAR FARM used to write about Goes Cube, we no longer do because Matt (our fearless editor) now plays bass in the band, and I (guitar/vocals of Goes Cube) recently joined the EAR FARM staff. Thanks to this policy, I can't just turn this column into one giant advertisement for Goes Cube. I can't use it as a soapbox from which to tell you how [REDACTED] [...]

Matt Tyson, the main man behind the incomparable New York City music blog Ear Farm, has long been a friend of Pop Tarts Suck Toasted. He was part of the original After the Jump gang, and like most of us New York bloggers he could be found fairly regularly at all the same shows we all attend. A few months ago news came down that Matt Frey was leaving Goes Cube and was going to be replaced by Matt Tyson and we were all thrilled for Matt. That said we wanted to find out what it was like for a [...]

This is called the Slowcast because there are so many songs and, more commonly, whole albums out there which I took ages and ages to get into, and for no really obvious reason. There are several reasons, I guess: how familiar a sound is, your emotional state at the time, what your mates are listening to, how popular something is and stuff like that. I know I've admitted plenty of times in the past that I have a habit of refusing to like things if they get too popular. That sounds ludicrous, but it's not exactly a conscious [...]

Don't ask me how that is going to work! But it's a good lineup in a rather odd location (a gallery in Chelsea). Additional goings on are listed below. Mancino @ Union Hall Tyvek @ Monster Island Dinowalrus @ Red Star Bar Sean Bones @ Mercury Lounge Andrew W.K. @ Santos Party House [...]
