Now, I'll be there, camera(s) in tow, to shoot the shoot (did I just blow yer mind???) as 1) I want [...]

Photography by kristi Today we were going to discuss the new Lucky Soul album because I like it, but it's going to have to wait as I'm stuck on an old fave and as I do whenever I get stuck on this album, I feel compelled to talk about it. But before we do, a warning: This post is NOT cool/hip/etc. In fact, enjoying the results of today's post will make you less cool by at LEAST 7 points. So, proceed with caution. I will [...]

The winner of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year award, Jose Rodriguez, has been disqualified after judges ruled that the featured wolf was probably a "model." The 2009 winning image, dubbed the Storybook Wolf , was chosen out of more than 43,000 competition entries in October 2009. Louise Emerson from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition office explained that the judging panel had been "reconvened" and had concluded that it was likely that the wolf featured in the image was an animal model that could [...]

Maybe this is just realllllllly bad timing for Tiger Woods . He was photographed by famed celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz for the February 2010 cover of "Vanity Fair", and he's shirtless! Want to see what mistresses Rachel Uchitel , Jaimie Jungers , et al., were rubbing up against as the golf legend was cheating on his model wife? Now you can! And it's gross. His body isn't gross, but just think [...]
We posted one of his films before but when I came across one of his latest and in my opinion his best, Bathtub V, I decided he needed some more attention. Sydney based photographer Keith Loutit has foud a unique niche in the film/photography world. Combining a variety of techniques mainly "Tilt Shift" photography, he turns massive mise-en-scène into the looks of a model set or miniature world Bathtub V from Keith Loutit on Vimeo . [...]

released in 1981, it became one of the biggest hits of the super self conscious decade. A time of a new superhero called teh supermodel ... super model photographer, oh and also spawned some sweet sweet pseudo fashion . Personally, I split the 80's right down the middle, 85 - 90 is basically no mans land, an abyss of horrish terror that (in my mind) peaked with Wilson Phillips. My knees get weak just typing those two words together. Throwback : Kim Carnes - Betty Davis Eyes (don lowed)
I'm a big fan of inter-artist dialogue. Whether it be between a painter and a photographer, a sculptor and a dancer or an author and a cartoonist. Even when working in the same medium, our processes are all different, but despite this, the foundations of creative response share one key commonality: Audacious curiosity. And it's interesting, of course, to see different artists' take on the same words and ideas. The idea of exploring curiosities is fundamental to why I enjoy speaking with and learning from artists. Though my field is technically scientific in nature, expressions of artistry have [...]

I've import breakfast from Scandanavia today in the form of Edita Vilkeviciute. Her recent photoshoot by Norwegian photographer Solve Sundsbo were scrumptious, so I had to share. The 20 year old super model recently was named the new face of Karl Lagerfeld, which is huge. Some would say he sets the standard of "Cool". He's so "Cool" in fact, he follows no one on twitter, everyone follows him. More pics of Edita Vilkeviciute after the jump...

Only in her early twenties photographer Dasha Yastrebova has already had three major exhibitions in Moscow and St Petersburg, a list of group shows in Paris, and Milan and shot editorial for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Time Out in Russia. Her recent project capturing the decadence of Moscow's Solyanka club (Russia's answer to Boombox/Gay Bash/Misshapes) is testament of her ability to transcend the usual social photo fodder and capture the raw energy of Russian youth displaying its emotions and drama with discouraging straightness, wit and charm. Dasha was born into a family [...]

Kyle Bylin , Associate Editor Photo Courtesy of Sara Kiesling For those who came of age just before the rise and fall of Napster, what music they listened to depended greatly on where they were from, who their friends were, what their parents listened to, and, above all , it was primarily determined by the "tyranny of geography." Such tyranny, Chris Anderson suggests in The [...]

The book which is finished and waiting for release in the coming months, is a philosophy book about sex encouraging young men and women not to be ashamed of who they are as sexual beings. Here is the final installment of our unscientific, should-not-be-used-for-news-an d-reporting-purposes survey results. As you probably know by now, the following answers were culled from a variety of people in the arts, music and entertainments communities. The last question we asked them was: How do you think we'll listen to music ten years from now? Our respondents' answers ranged from silly to philosophical to downright Sci-Fi! We hope you enjoy reading them. And thanks so much to everyone who took the time to participate. Douglas Wolk, writer: [...]

As part of our ongoing end-of-the-decade coverage, we sent out a survey to various people in the music, arts and entertainment communities. Here is another question we asked: What does "indie" mean to you? Discuss our respondents' answers and leave your own in the comments section. Douglas Wolk, writer: That's very simple. "Indie" is short for "independent." Independently released music is not directly financially dependent on any of the four major labels (WMG, Sony BMG, EMI and Universal). "Indie" does [...]

I'm not too sure what to make of Sonny Vandevelde when I first meet him for this interview. His salt and pepper beard, bucket hat and affable demeanor makes me think he once worked in a surf shop. The term "salty sea dog" seems particularly apt and I'm not too sure why. Surprisingly that assumption is only half true because (though he loves surfing) Balenciaga, Comme Des Garcons and Alexander McQueen are the only shows to have eluded Vandevelde's lens thus far. Actually it's far easier on my wrists, sanity and time to list the shows he hasn't documented backstage. [...]
