Guess this is the sort of stuff you will find under the tree this Christmas - if you have been bad. I'd rather have a gift card, you know? Anyway - here are some new efforts from Big Superstars who are still trying to get your hard-earned money this holiday season, although you need it way more than they do. Norah Jones has sold a zillion albums but she has really put out only four, and The Fall is certainly her liveliest album to date. She's kinda wanting to [...]
I suppose, given that he's having a bit of a shit time on his current tour, it's understanable that when he does turn up, Morrissey is grumpy old sod. In Hamburg, somebody decided to boo when Mozzer launched into his vegetarian speech. Did Morrissey laugh it off? What do you think?
A fan yelled "fuck you" while Moz was telling a joke onstage, and the recently beleaguered singer had him removed from the venue while adding " and you can fuck yourself ." The irony? Next he sang "Ask." Guess shyness really is nice, sometimes.
Your daily dose of national music news for Friday, November 20, 2009...It doesn't take The Dead Weather long to make records. The band just released its first album and it's already ready to rele... It's unlikely that Morrissey is having a hugely enjoyable time on his current tour. First, he was hospitalized. Then, he was hit by a flying cup of beer and called a premature halt to a concert in Liverpool. On Tuesday (Nov. 17) this week a further incident occurred in Hamburg, when Morrissey made an uncharacteristic outburst toward a fan. Now, a video of the altercation has emerged. It is alleged that the fan in question yelled "fuck you" at the former Smith singer after he made a joke about hamburgers, and the clip begins [...]
German Moz -lover is ejected from Hamburg concert...
Death Cab For Cutie forsangeren Ben Gibbards hyggeprojekt The Postal Service rendte med 2. pladsen, blandt andet foran to [...]
More Moz on the flipside.

For ramblings on how I came to compile this list go here . And for commentary on previous selections: [ #50-46 ] [ #45-41 ] [ #40-36 ] [ #35-31 ] 30. Heartbreaker - Ryan Adams (2000) The argument that most of the world's greatest art is derived from sadness is one that I've always worked hard to refute, but a guy like Ryan Adams doesn't make it easy for me to do so. It doesn't [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News He's already collapsed onstage in Swindon, walked out of a Liverpool show after only two songs after being hit on the head with a bottle and now Morrissey has had a fan thrown out of his show in Hamburg. The singer's highly eventful European tour hit the German city on Nov. 17 for a gig at the CCH1 venue, and during the show a heckler was ejected at Morrissey's request. The aftermath of the incident was captured by a fan-shot video [...]

It's been almost two years since we've heard a proper yelp from Jamie Stewart and his band of avant-humanists. Which isn't to say he hasn't been busy, making a record with Former Ghosts, writing personal haiku's for me and a billion other kids, and even covering Morrissey. And now that we've all been tended to, Xiu Xiu will return to form this February with the release of their new full-length called (ready?), Dear God, I Hate Myself. After the somewhat recent departure of Caralee McElroy, they've enlisted the full-time [...]
It didn't take too long for Morrissey to get back in the news. If anything, he's right on schedule! This time it's in Hamburg, Germany at CCH1. According to the description in the video, a audience member shouted "Fuck you"...

The Cave Singers ' sound has certainly developed since their successful 2007 debut album, Invitation Songs . Recorded in Vancouver, Welcome Joy , exhibits more variety than their original signature blend of Americana meets English folk. The alt-county nasal vocal and laid-back slide guitar picking are still there from the outset. The opening track, 'Summer Light', is comforting and familiar, but 'At The Cut' sees the Seattle trio unleash their inner rock child, and they certainly have fun in the process. However, they have not strayed too far from their roots – 'Leap' is [...]

Frank Yang Q: Without a new record to promote - Mr. Love & Justice has been out for close to two years - what reason did Billy Bragg have for staging an ambitious cross-Canada tour ? A: Who cares? Any time you get the opportunity to see Billy Bragg live, you take it, no questions asked. Of course, I say that having missed his last three appearances in Toronto - the September 2006 show at the Music Hall for not one but two weddings, [...]

Early morning view from my room in Shanghai. 2004. Brilliant year! This blog is born! Back in London! Good year. My favorite song was, without a doubt, Keane's swoony epic, Your Eyes Open , which reminded me of Ultravox and hits like Reap The Wild Wind . This was the return of the romantic male singing voice after years in the growling butch wilderness. My other favorite song was unlikely: Nancy Sinatra's performance of a song Morrissey wrote for [...]
