One of my favorite music blogs Wears The Trousers recently started their own record label, and their first release will be a tribute to legendary folk singer Odetta . Darf ich bei meinen täglichen Musikförderungsmaßnahmen, natürlich Unbekanntes, aber auch mich besonders Berührendes vorstellen? bei der gestrigen suche nach passendem videomaterial zu und über ora cogan kam mir ein duett von ihr mit anni rossi unter. da mir auch rossis stimme wohlfeil erschien, recherchierte ich einfach auch in diese richtung weiter. und siehe da, beharrlichkeit, die sich auszahlt. anni rossi steht kurz vor der veröffentlichung ihres debutalbums "rockwell". 4ad hat sich ihrer angenommen und bereits im dritten viertel des vergangenen jahres die ep "afton" veröffentlicht. will sagen, wenn man wollte, hätte man schon etwas besser über rossi informiert sein können. nun denn. nichts ist zu spät. ora cogan stammt von der westküste kanadas, dort, auf einer kleinen insel, wurde sie geboren. dass sie mit 12 anfing, erste songs zu schreiben, liegt vermutlich u.a. daran, dass das haus, in dem sie aufwuchs, gleichzeitig als aufnahmestudio herhalten musste und es künstler, aber auch besucher häufig frequentierten. mittlerweile lebt ora in vancouver und geht ihren eigenen weg, der nicht mehr belastet ist durch "fremde einflüsse". ihr stil ist unkompliziert, folk, vordergründig, mehr, dennoch, hintergründig. immer ist eine prise von etwas dabei, das sich erst noch empfinden, erfinden lassen muss. eine note [...]
