via erik baar Chicago's own Prairie Cartel released a new album a few weeks ago, Where Did All My People Go . Last featured back when the Hey Champ remix of "Cracktown" a while back, the 'Cartel carry a grungy, digitized dance-rock vibe well. Here's a Bright Lights remix of "No Light." The Prairie Cartel - No Light (Bright Lights Remix) I can't stop playing this Extrawelt jam. Sure it's been out for a while, released as a single on Border [...]
Snappy comments, etc, coming in a few hours but for now I am late and figure you want these jams sooner rather than later. It is Friday after all... ♫ Sean Bones - Dancehall (Bodega Girls Remix) / text [original post] ♫ Prairie cartel - Cracktown (Hey Champ Remix) / text [original post] ♫ Fool's Gold - Surprise Hotel (Mad Decent Remix) / text [original post] ♫ Major Lazer - Jump Up (Laza Beam Remix) / text [original post] ♫ Mike [...]

Do I even need to write intros to these things anymore? I'm trying to keep these things leaner and meaner so let's get on with the show! ♫ Prairie Cartel - Cracktown (Hey Champ Remix) / Umm, did you read who is on this track? Yeah, its fresh, but you knew that already. Bust out the strobe light and get freaky. [ original post / more HC ] ♫ Fool's Gold - Surprise Hotel (Mad Decent's Toadally Krossed Out Remix) / Toad croaking! Yes! Leave it up to Mad Decent [...]

Photo Credit: Audrey Leon Local electro-rockers Prairie Cartel celebrated the release of their debut album Where Did All My People Go with a gig at the brand new Lincoln Hall . The 45-minute set included such notable tracks as "Homicide" and the single "No Light Escapes Here." For a band that is still in its relative infancy - Prairie Cartel came about in 2005 - it hosts such seasoned Chicago rock veterans as Scott Lucas (Local H) [...]

The Prairie Cartel: Where Did All My People Go Scott Lucas is perhaps best known for his work with 90's modern rock hit makers, Local H . It's been over a decade since Local H has been relevant so to hear Scott Lucas return with a new group is a little surprising. The Prairie Cartel's debut album, Where Did All My People Go is about as far away from Local H as possible. The music of the Prairie Cartel is rock-tinged dance music. Musically, they remind me of a [...]

My inner ten-year-old's hormones just went into overdrive. Princess Leia and her stunt-double catch some rays. In other news, check out my review of the new Prairie Cartel album , and don't forget to catch them at Angels & K [ photo credz ]

my apologies for the late post today, but a night of carousing on the town and the almighty flu bug are to blame. anyhow, here's a serving of some saucy, sing-along rock n' roll to cure any of tonight's shortcomings. Eulogies - Day to Day Jail - There's No Sky (Oh My My) Royal Bangs - War Bells The Prairie Cartel - No Light Escapes Here
First thing's first: If you've not yet heard, there's a brand new concert venue in Chicago. It's called Lincoln Hall and it's a 500 capacity place put together by the owners of Schubas. Lincoln Hall opened a little over a week and a half ago, and in that brief period of time they've had such notable acts as Mike Doughty, Ted Leo and Ben Gibbard with Jay Farrar all play there. On Tuesday night it was time for Chicago's own The Smith Westerns along with Neon Indian to help break the venue in further. I'll get to their individual sets [...]
Three reasons to see The Prairie Cartel at Lincoln Hall tonight... 1. The Prairie Cartel is the band you have been waiting for. They'll sweep you off your feet and get you dancing until sunrise. Their new album Where Did All My People Go came out today and features the standout tracks "Cracktown," "Jump Like Chemicals" and "Suitcase Pimp." 2. The Prairie Cartel is yet another side project by Chicago's resident dynamo Scott Lucas; this [...]
We were not familiar with the term and thus we had to consult the urban dictionary to discover the truth. All kidding aside the reason for mentioning the urban yeti is that you actually see one in the new video from the band The Prairie Cartel for their catchy as hell track " No Light Escapes Here ". The video was directed by the Chinese award winning film maker/animator Peng Lei . He himself is actually a musician and he plays in the band New [...]
Another solid week of shows coming up in Chicago this week. Sadly, though, most of the best shows are bunched up at the start of the week, meaning there aren't too many interesting shows I can take my younger brother to when he's in town this weekend. I'm sure we'll find something to do, though - this ain't DC. (Snap!) As always, my picks in bold . Sunday, 10/25 Beat Kitchen (early - 12pm): Shana Sings (special Halloween show) Beat Kitchen (7pm): [...]

where did all my people go? ♫ The Prairie Cartel - Cracktown The lyric above is also the name of The Prairie Cartel's debut LP. It's also a question I have been asking myself as I settle back into Warsaw. Anyway, you guys can appreciate the industrial-pop jam and I'll appreciate the deeper meanings, cool? It's Saturday night and this is just the kind of step-popper that gets me bouncing out the door and into the evening. Although The Prairie Cartel hail from Chicago, I'm not sure if that [...]

And so we've reached the last three months of the calendar year, known in the world of music as the Fourth Quarter. It's the last chance for bands and labels to make an impression, pocket a bit of cash, and maybe, just maybe, earn a sport on those illustrious year-end lists. As usually the case with these types of things, we got a lot of music to look forward to... with a heavy emphasis on "a lot." Fortunately, as it's usually the case with these types of things, we got you covered. Below, you'll find an extensive and [...]
