Punk legend John Lydon has responded to the controversy about his Country Life butter commercials by revealing that the £5m TV campaign was instrumental in funding his forthcoming tour with Public Image Limited . Speaking to Camden New Journal , the singer said this: Why are they questioning me? What manual am I supposed to adopt? I'm promoting a British product which I'm very proud of. Anything I can do to help British industry is fine by me and in return you've got PiL. he money I [...]

Photo via architectsnewspaper I was walking through Brooklyn on Halloween nite when I stumbled past these 3 authentic children, all dressed as relevant architectural landmarks. I had to do a google image search since I 'recognized that the buildings were relevant' but didn't know their names. Turns out that they are the Guggenheim, the New Museum, and the Whitney. All of the children seem happy, knowing that they are 'way smarter'/generally 'better' than most regular kidz and their boring-ass costumes. Sorta feel sad looking at the lil grim [...]
John Lydon of Sex Pistols and Public Image Limited spoke to The Guardian about some of his favorite records. Among them are albums from The Kinks, Roxy Music, The Raincoats , Can, Kate Bush and Talvin Singh. He also takes a moment to share more of his thoughts on Green Day saying: The blancmange that is Green Day, where you have a Johnny Rotten first verse, a Billy Idol chorus and a Sham 69 second verse. Preposterous! Check out the full column here .

Another one of my favorites from Years of Future Passed is Graham Parker. He had a couple of different backing bands over the years, but there is no mistaking his voice. I have remarked in the past about my college years basically transforming what I thought were my musical tastes. Graham Parker & The Rumour were a British "New Wave" (I get so tired of adhering to the labeling of bands, but if nothing else it gives it a bit of a time stamp I suppose) act that three relatively well known records by 1979's Squeezing Out Sparks. All I [...]
What it do party people! We have the freshest of the fresh tee's this week. And were starting off with a selection from my homie Gabe. He chose the Original Fake "Halloween Monster Tee."($?) The Original Fake character opposite a Werewolf reflection is dope. Gabe Said: Classic Kaws character, dope classic horror movie font and image of the wolf man - graphic has fresh ghostly glow. Drawbacks: not for sale anywhere in the U.S. - gonna run you about $100. Still a dope tee though; I almost bought it myself but then I was like $100 [...]

I have been thinking about blogging about L7 for months now. Today is the day. I don't claim to be an expert on all female rock bands, but I have always liked L7. I think my first exposure to an all female band was The Runaways back in the early 70's. I remember hearing my friend Jeff play "Cherry Bomb" and thinking that it was kind of interesting. The most successful all girl band would have to be The Go-Go's I suppose, but if I was posting about The Go-Go's I would have listed this post under Guilty Pleasures. It's [...]

Donewaiting's first foray into this "Behind the Artwork" feature was with Mike Carney, who did the cover of Heartless Bastards' The Mountain and the entire Black Keys discography. This time around, we decided to get the skinny on Times New Viking 's new one from TNV drummer/vocalist Adam Elliott. (Can you tell yet that we're excited about this record?) Elliott answered the questions I sent him with his usual candor, and it's a pretty good insight not only into the reasons behind the album covers these art-school kids create, but also the creative [...]
John Lydon, as simultaneously annoying and entertaining as he can be, is not one to play by the rules. The fact that he has flogged the dead horse that is the Sex Pistols' legacy for cheap, cash-cow reunions on numerous occasions is unsurprising to anyone who has even tangentially followed his career path. The Sex Pistols is/was/will always be the caricature of punk's genesis- the name that everyone recognizes but whose music far fewer actually know. Lydon's other claim to fame, Public Image Limited, has always served as Lydon's true(er) artistic statement. At least it did in the beginning. Although, [...]

What do I know about making money from music? After all, I've given all of my own compositions away for free so far . That being said, I have been an avid purchaser of music for many years and grew up in a household loaded with records, tapes, and CDs, so I'd like to think I know a little something about what entices someone into wanting to own an album, physically as well as digitally. We're living in a time where practically every album you could want can be found in a few minutes' time via music [...]
"We'll see where we can go," 53-year-old Lydon told the Guardian. "Some things may be quite similar, some may not." December 2009 sees the return of Public Image Limited for 5 very special live dates in the UK. Their first shows in 17 years. The shows will mark the 30th Anniversary of the release of 'Metal Box' but PiL will NOT be limited to tracks from one album and the tour will showcase their whole career. PiL founder John [...]
• Reality-TV refugee John Lydon has announced that Public Image Limited has ceased its 17-year hiatus and will play a five-date reunion tour this winter, albeit without original members Jah Wobble and Keith Levene. Here's hoping they at least get a TV appearance or two out of it. [ Guardian ] • Robin Gibb used his appearance on the BBC's cricket show Test Match Special to tout upcoming Bee Gees shows featuring him and his brother Barry; after Robin's twin, Maurice, passed away in 2003 the brothers had said that they would not [...]
It's been 17 years since anyone's heard a peep from U.K. post-punk giants Public Image Ltd . Though the group's brainchild John Lyndon has claimed the band was merely on hiatus, everyone wondered whether we'd ever see the band on stage again. It's taken almost two decades for Lyndon to break the silence and reactivate the outfit, and yesterday he announced a handful of shows in the U.K. this December. For those unaware, Lydon unveiled Public Image Limited only a few months after the Sex Pistols imploded on stage in the U.S. in [...]

Mercury-nominated Florence and the Machine are to play their biggest tour yet in December, with six U.K. dates culminating in a show at London's Brixton Academy. Last year's Mercury Music prize winners Elbow have tipped Friendly Fires to take away the prize this year. "We wish luck to everybody who is on the list this year, but more than that, congratulations on being on the list. Everybody there make sure you have a great night," singer Guy Garvey told BBC 6 Music. The cover [...]
